REPOA began operating in early 1995 as a Tanzanian non-profit non-governmental organisation, and is now one of the leading independent research institutions in Tanzania specialising in policy research on socio-economic and development issues. REPOA's research is currently conducted in Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, with some research projects covering every district.
