Welcome to Northern State University's Jump Start Page! We are excited to begin a new school year and summer bridge begins July 26th.
Congrats Kyla Rae Schuster! We're proud of all your accomplishments.
“I’ve known since the second grade I wanted to be a teacher, so it just kind of fit. Why not Northern? I’d been coming here since the summer before my freshman year with Upward Bound. Knowing campus, it just helps make it feel like home. As a student, I’ve made so many connections. I work for Sarah Botkin, and through her, I became an orientation leader. I’ve just met so many people. I tell my orientees in my orientation leader group, ‘the more faces that you recognize on campus, the more it feels like home. So making those connections helps make you feel like you fit. Working on campus, everyone always understands you’re a student first. Your success is always important. Even if something is outside of your comfort zone, just grab as many opportunities as you can. You won’t regret trying. Even if things don’t work out, you’ll have that experience to take with you.” – Kyla Schuster
There's a great article in the Aberdeen American News today about the importance of campus visits in choosing a college. https://www.aberdeennews.com/news/local/campus-visits-offer-extra-insight-for-students-deciding-on-right/article_71d70ab6-7cde-5490-8496-6c64ecb183da.html
But even if you can't access the article behind the paywall, there's a wonderful picture of our own Evangelina Farias leading a group of prospective students on a campus tour. Nice job, Eve!

As the world we live in grows increasingly diverse, it would benefit all of us to enter into discussions about cultural experiences, inter-cultural communication, and other aspects of multiculturalism. Please look into these discussion forums offered by the Northern State University Student Association and try to attend a few if you can.
The first Multicultural Forum will be held tonight at 7 p.m. in the Missouri River Room! The topic being discussed is “Studying Abroad”! This event is sponsored by the NSU Confucius Institute, Project Pengyou & NSU Student Association! Can’t wait to see you all there!
Though they didn't win an award, Kelsey Iverson and the NSU Rugby Club had a great time with their float in the NSU Homecoming Parade!
