It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of our co-worker and friend. Sherri Lynn Jobe passed away this morning in Bristol after a courageous battle with cancer.

We will miss her more than words can express. Sherri was not only a co-worker, but a member of our family for many years.

Sherri came to us in 2007 as a relatively new EMT, and for years cared for her patients as she would her own family. She served the community with kindness and grace.

Please keep her family and friends in your prayers.

EMS Week (to me) is about celebrating those in the profession.

They are the unsung warriors of healthcare, and the step-children of public safety.

They clock in, and go hard all day and night, squeezing in meals during seemingly endless shifts.

Whether it's a scene call for chest pain, a discharge back home, or a critical transfer from one hospital to another, our people are there, getting the job done.

To the EMTs, Advanced EMTs, Intermediates, Paramedics, Dispatchers, and Operators of Abingdon Ambulance Service and C-Trans Medical Services... You deserve appreciation and recognition for your tireless efforts, not only during EMS Week, but every day of the year.

Thank you for being there for our patients.

Happy EMS Week!

May 19-25, 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the first National EMS Week, a seven-day long celebration that honors the emergency medical services profession and its importance in protecting the safety and health of the public.

This year’s theme, “Honoring Our Past. Forging Our Future,” reminds us to acknowledge the foundational work of those who came before us, while also striving to build and lead the EMS system we envision for our future.

Timeline photos 08/29/2021

The COVID-19 Delta variant continues to overwhelm hospitals and EMS agencies across the country, and GMR has deployed additional paramedics, EMTs and support personnel to provide much-needed help in Mississippi, Oregon and Kentucky. Earlier this month, GMR sent dozens of ambulances and medical and command staff personnel from its ground division – American Medical Response – in addition to participating network providers to hard-hit communities in Missouri and Louisiana. The deployments are in response to a FEMA request to help the federal government and local emergency personnel respond to record surges in COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations.

“We are proud to help in some of the nation’s hardest hit states during this devastating pandemic,” said GMR Chief Operating Officer Ted Van Horne. “Our mission is to provide care at a moment’s notice, and one way we do that is to support FEMA by providing frontline caregivers to help EMS agencies and hospitals impacted by an influx of COVID-19 patients.”
