Please note, on Friday, June 21, 2024 all town offices will be closed and all Town of Abington phone lines* will be down due to a scheduled power outage and the installment of a new back up generator.

🧨 If you are part of a non-profit, church, service, youth, school or sports group organization that is part of the fabric of Abington, we encourage and ask for your participation in this popular event for our community! Registration for the Eager Beaver Program will open tomorrow, 3/26 for residents and Tuesday, 4/2 for non-residents.
All other summer programs and memberships will be open for both residents and non-residents registration tomorrow.

We are offering a limited-time rain barrel program in partnership with The Great American Rain Barrel Company! Abington Celebrates is looking for Oktoberfest vendors! See below if you are interested!

SEEKING VENDORS FOR OUR FARMERS MARKET! Abington Celebrates is looking for vendors for our Farmers Market at the Oktoberfest Family Day Celebration on Sunday, 10/15 from 12-3 p.m. It was such a success last year and we’re excited to have it once again!

Despite the gloomy weather, the Island Grove pool will be opening at 12:30 today (providing we can safely do so)! Join us for closing day activities to wrap up the 2023 season!

As a reminder the Island Grove Pool closes this Friday, 8/18! We will have some activities and treats going throughout the day on Friday to celebrate the end of summer!

Thank you for a great opening weekend! We can't wait for a fun-filled summer!

We are not letting the rain ruin our fun! Join us for Opening Day with free popsicles, snow cones, games and swimming in rain! We will also have some beach umbrellas set up for parents to stay dry!

Memorial Field is the place you will want to be on Saturday, June 10th from 5-9 p.m.! Lots going on and of course FIREWORKS!! We will highlight as much as we can (there’s so much and more added continuously) over the coming days. Buckle up!

You will not want to miss the new Beaver Brook Playground’s Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 5:30 p.m. on 6/10 at the new playground. Lots of hard work, dedication and love went into this project and we are thrilled to share this with them!

🚨Chemical treatment of Island Grove
⏰ Friday, May 19, 2023
🚫 Pond closed to swimming, boating and fishing on day of treatment

Island Grove Pond in Abington will be chemically treated with a USEPA/MA registered aquatic herbicide, Sonar (fluridone), targeting the control of nuisance and invasive aquatic vegetation on Friday, May 19, 2023. The pond will be closed to swimming, boating, and fishing during the day of treatment. Additional restrictions include a sixty-day restriction on using pond water for irrigation. Temporary signs that warn of the applicable water use restrictions will be posted around the pond shoreline in advance of treatment. The neon signs will be posted around the entire shoreline with a focus on main access points along Lake Street. The work is being performed for the Town of Abington, under contract with Water & Wetland, LLC and pursuant to an Order of Conditions permit from the Abington Commission and License to Apply Chemicals permit from MA DEP.

Additional treatments will commence during the Summer for the continued control of the target invasive species. Signs will be posted around the shoreline prior to each treatment. All treatments will also be posted on the Town of Abington’s social media pages.

Don't forget Founder's Day events are happening this weekend!! Come visit us at Memorial Field before the fireworks for free cotton candy and a chance to win free treats from the Island Grove snack shack!
