Due to forecasted temperatures in the mid to high 90s and an extreme heat advisory in effect this week, the City of Allentown shares the following resources available to residents:

Pools: From Tuesday 6/18 to Friday 6/21, city pools will be open from 12-7pm to residents and season pass holders only as capacity allows, at no cost. ID required. Once we’ve reached capacity for the day(s), we will not allow any additional entry into the pools that day.

Extreme heat can be dangerous for everyone, especially young children and older adults. Heat-related illnesses can cause significant injury and possibly death. Stay hydrated, stay indoors with air-conditioning if possible, and check on relatives and neighbors to ensure they are staying cool. Also, take extra care of pets during this heatwave. If someone is overcome by heat, move them to a cool, shaded spot. For heat strokes, heat-related, and other emergencies, please call 9-1-1.

2024 SUMMER PLAYGROUND PROGRAM
The City of Allentown’s free eight-week summer playground program begins Monday, June 17th.

The program includes playground activities and free lunch for children ages 7-to-15 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Mondays and from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. There are currently 17 participating locations.

It’s that time of year again! Allentown Housing Authority will be hosting the annual Beautification Program. FREE flowers will be available for Cumberland Gardens residents for pick-up on Tuesday, May 21st between 12pm-3pm. There will also be a FREE health fair featuring information and resources from local agencies.

AHA hosted a Resident Appreciation Luncheon this week to present new landscaping upgrades to residents at Walnut Manor.

Lehigh County is now accepting applications for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. This year the voucher will be worth $50.00.
