Feminists in Action at Louisiana State University has been BUSY lately. Pictured here: advocating at the state capitol for Women on Wednesdays; marching for, with, and as survivors at LSU's Take Back the Night; wearing jeans and spreading the word about Denim Day this past Wednesday.

FIA has been incredibly active in advocating for sexual assault prevention on their campus, leading the way to set a feminist example for students at LSU. We're so proud of all the work they've done this year–and in just the past two weeks alone!

The people who want to restrict abortion access and the people who want to cut off gender-affirming care for trans kids are the same people.

Open Letter Supporting the Full Inclusion of Transgender and All LGBTQI+ Youth 04/18/2023

We've signed onto the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights' letter demanding that Congress vote NO on H.R. 734 and protect trans youth. This so-called Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act isn't about "protecting women" and we all know it. Stop lying about what this is for and start telling the truth: this is just another discriminatory bill to further isolate and stigmatize trans and intersex kids.

We support laws and policies that protect trans people from discrimination, including full and equal participation in sports, access to gender-affirming care, access to school facilities, and access to inclusive curriculum. This includes opposing H.R. 734's transphobic aims.

The Feminist League at Mott Community College in Flint, Michigan traveled to DC last week to meet with leadership at the Feminist Majority Foundation, further explore women’s history, and get some cultural enrichment. This was the first time a student group at MCC traveled with children, working to be more inclusive of student parents - and it was a huge success!

On Friday, a Texas judge ruled that the FDA's approval of mifepristone, a safe and effective abortion medication, is unlawful.

While we continue to follow along and figure out the intricacies of what this ruling means and what will happen, know that right now mifepristone is STILL LEGAL.

Ultimately, no matter what happens, mifepristone is safe & effective. People have been using it for years to have safe abortions, with a safety record of over 99%. Still, anti-abortion activists won’t stop until medication abortion is out of reach, even in states where abortion is protected.

Since the 1970s, reproductive justice activist Byllye Avery has championed equitable access to healthcare for Black women. In 1974, Avery and her colleagues opened a reproductive healthcare clinic and a birthing center to expand lower income women’s access to reproductive healthcare options. The Black Women’s Health Imperative, founded by Avery, was the first national organization to specifically focus on the wellness of Black women and has advocated for health equity for Black women and girls for 38 years.

Misogynoir, sexism, and racial inequalities entrenched in the U.S. healthcare system negatively impact the care that Black women receive across all medical specialties. And current abortion restrictions disproportionately impact Black women, Black trans men, and nonbinary Black people most, as nearly 40% of all abortion-seeking patients in the U.S. are Black. Thus, Byllye Avery’s work remains significant as the fight for reproductive justice continues on.

Supreme Court Overturns Roe v. Wade - Ms. Magazine 06/24/2022

We are saddened and enraged, but also emboldened and determined. Abortion is, and will always be, healthcare, and we must continue to do everything we can to protect and expand access.

Who Are We?

The world's largest #feminist student network doing multi-issue organizing: #AbortionAccess | #ERAYES | @MyLASexEd | #VoteFeminist

The Feminist Majority Foundation (FMF) started Feminist Campus to inform young feminists about the very real threats to abortion access, women’s rights, affirmative action, and LGBTQ+ equality posed by right-wing extremists.

By working with students on college campuses, Feminist Campus organizers effect change at both the grassroots and national levels. Feminist Campus is built upon FMF’s philosophy that the most effective activism is informed activism, and thus provides progressive students with opportunities to learn about timely feminist issues, develop their leadership and organizing skills, and connect with the larger feminist movement.

There are hundreds of Feminist Campus student-led organizations around the country. Interested in starting your own group or affiliate an existing group with the Feminist Campus program? Visit our website or email us directly!
