We captured buck 140 during December 2020 as a 2-year-old. His behavior was normal... until the rut ended in late January and the water began to rise.

Yes, that’s the 1-mile wide Mississippi River, and he crossed it during peak flood stage before he set up shop in Louisiana, 18 MILES from his capture location.

Deer living in areas prone to severe environmental events like flooding go to incredible lengths to survive. He seems quite content in Louisiana for now, but watch for updates because we have a hunch he might swim back to Mississippi for the fall.

We had 6 past-year participants that we're trying to retain and two brand new recruits. A big THANK YOU goes out to all our mentors who volunteered their time and expertise this weekend. Whitetail Weekend | QDMA Get Registered for Whitetail Weekend

February 15 is the deadline for Early Bird registration for Whitetail Weekend and the final opportunity to save $50. It is also the deadline to secure a room in one of QDMA’s partner hotels, which is extremely important. Due to several competing events, rooms will be extremely scarce in Athens during Whitetail Weekend. As such, if a room is not secured by February 15, there is a real chance that there will be no availability closer to the date, at least in the downtown Athens area. Barbecue masters from Texas and Georgia meet when an amazing duo come together to feed guests at QDMA’s upcoming Whitetail Weekend, April 12-13.
