Help us wish Big Brother Ned Washington a very special Birthday. A true Omega man, retired business executive, mentor, and a friend. Brother Washington was initiated into our beloved Beta Psi Chapter (previously Clark College; now Clark Atlanta University) December 11,1969, Lead Dog of the “Sinful Six.”

Brother Ned Washington Jr. is a retired cosmetics and hair care executive that has literally shaped the way hair care products are marketed worldwide. He has travelled over 2.2 million miles over six continents, in a career that has spanned four decades.

Happy 99th Charter Day to Beta Psi Chapter!!

Beta Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was the first Greek organization on then Clark University's campus (now Clark Atlanta University and previously Clark College). Our impact on the university, the fraternity and the world remain an inspiration to many.

Dr. J.J. Dennis '26, GA.'s first black Ph.D., and Dr. Roosevelt Thedford '56 dedicated their lives to educating students at the university. Many brothers over the decades have toiled at Clark Atlanta University, while Bro. Chris Allen '86 and Bro. Julius Sudds '09 continue to move the university forward.

The influence of Beta Psi continues to spread throughout the fraternity. Charter members J.P. Murchison and R.E Cureton were both Editor-in Chiefs to the Oracle. Bro. James Felder '58 was 2nd Vice Grand Basileus and later Grand Counselor and was followed by Bro. Robert Tucker '60, who served two terms as 2nd Vice Grand Basileus. Bro. Chucky Wilson '68 was the 17th 7th district representative and Dr. Moses C. Norman Sr. '54 was a 7th district representative. and later the 33rd Grand Basileus of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Many Beta Psi brothers continue to hold leadership positions nationwide, such as. Bro. Raymond Johnson '76, immediate past 6th district chaplain, Bro. Gerald Folsom ‘82, 2nd District Chaplain for 7 years (2009 - 2016), and Bro. Leon Smith '91 current New Jersey state representative.

We have produced leaders in the STEM fields as well. Dr. Wesley Memeger '59, the 1st black scientist at Dupont, and inventor of Kevlar, and Bro. William Appling '60, 1st black structural engineer at Lockheed. Currently Bro. Dwight Mosby '95 is the team leader for NASA's Mars project.

This is but a miniscule display of the 99 years of excellence that Beta Psi has given the university, the fraternity and the world.

This is Beta Psi and This is Who We Are!!!

All roads lead to the Beta Psi Centennial Celebration in 2023!! Stay tuned…More information to come!!

This is Beta Psi and this is who we are…

Beta Psi Chapter was chartered on December 22, 1923. Since it’s inception, the chapter has produced a selective, yet dynamic group of college educated men and leaders. In fact, only 465 Beta Psi brothers have been made in it’s nearly 99 year history.

At the the 2022 CAU Homecoming, we were excited to have on hand brothers from the 1940s (Bro. Alfred Wyatt, Sr.; crossed into Beta Psi Chapter on Dec. 17, 1947) all the way to our Fall ‘ 21 neos to witness this amazing weekend of festivities. We have a strong and unique bond that stretches across all generations!!

Stay tuned to our upcoming events and activities that will culminate in December 2023 at our 100-Year Charter (Centennial) Anniversary Celebration!

Happy 98th Chapter Anniversary to the Brothers of Beta Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Having the distinction of being the first Greek-lettered fraternal organization on Clark's campus, Beta Psi Chapter has produced outstanding scholars, leaders, athletes, scientists, lawyers, doctors, entrepreneurs, educators, and business executives, throughout her storied history who have gone on to make major contributions nationally and internationally. Noteworthy Beta Psians include but are not limited to the following: Brother Dr. J. J. Dennis (BY '26, Omega Chapter) an accomplished scholar and educator. After Clark University, he earned a Ph.D. from Northwestern University. Subsequently, he was Chair of Clark's Math department for decades, has an endowed scholarship in his name since the late 80s, and has one of Clark's building name in his honor; the late Brother Dr. Moses C. Norman (BY '54, Omega Chapter), 33rd Grand Basileus, retired Dean of Clark Atlanta University's School of Education, and former area superintendent in Atlanta Public Schools; Brother Dr. Elridge McMillan (BY '52), the first African American chair (1986-87) of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia; Honorable Brother James Felder (BY '58), past Grand Counselor (1974), Army sergeant and top-ranking non-commissioned officer in the military honor guard during the funeral of President John F. Kennedy, author, and elected to South Carolina House of Representatives (1970); Brother Robert H. Nat Scurry (BY '66), Senior Executive at the White House Office of Management and Budget and Assistant/Deputy Regional Administrator at the Environmental Protection Agency during the administrations of 8 Presidents, Associate Vice President of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville; The Honorable Brother James R. Spencer (BY '68), retired Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, ordained minister, lecturer, an accomplished author, and motivational speaker; and many, many more.

Beta Psi Chapter has acted as a mid-wife that has delivered generations of strong, dynamic college-educated men. Standing on a firm foundation consisting of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.'s Four Cardinal Principles (Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift) and a bond of friendship, "our foster mother encircles us with her strong benevolent arms and smothers us with an understanding of the quintessence of brotherhood. Her horizons are "Ad Infinitum"-unlimited, and her bonds cannot be severed."

“However good the intentions may be, actions are the only evidence of their existence!”
-Founder Professor Frank Coleman

Making a pledge to donate money to your alma mater is a significant first step. However, fulfilling your pledge is where the true blessings can be found!

In 2018, the Beta Psi 1923 Foundation made a pledge to donate $100,000 over a 5-year period. On December 13, 2020 the Foundation fulfilled its initial commitment to the university 3-years earlier than promised. The amazing aspect of this testimony is that the $100,000 was raised by the generosity of only 89 donors!!! A Promise Made…a promise kept!!

Since then, we have gone on to donate (not pledge) more than a $250,000 to CAU that has fully funded the Dr. Moses C. Norman, Sr. Endowment as well as fund direct scholarships to exceptional deserving CAU students!

Special thanks to Grand Basileus Bro. Dr. David Marion for donating $10,000 and the brothers of Chapter for donating $2,000 at our recent CAU Brick Plaza ribbon cutting ceremony.

The Beta Psi 1923 Foundation is committed to action! Thank you for being a part of this new revolutionary philanthropic movement!

Thank you to all that made this historic initiative possible. With this donation, the Beta Psi 1923 Foundation has donated >$250,000 since 2018!!! Of which, increased the Dr. Moses C. Norman, Sr. Endowment to over $200,000

We were blessed to have special dignitaries including Dr. George T. French, Jr. (CAU President) U.S. Congressman Henry “Hank” Johnson, Dr. David Marion (41st Grand Basileus, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.) and the family of the late Dr. Moses C.
