Peer Educators play a key role on Spelman's campus in supporting the needs of their Spelman siblings. Peer Educators act as liaisons between students and the supportive resources that the VP&I Program and Title IX Office provide for students. Experiencing harm can be challenging and Peer Educators make it easier for our student community to learn more about gender-based violence and to receive trauma-informed support if they have experienced gender-based harm.

Happy Founders Day Spelmanites! Today we celebrate the legacy of not only Spelman College but also the legacy that past and present Spelman Students leave. Ruha Benjamin, Ph.D. C’2001 gave this morning’s Founder’s Day address and said it best when she asked, “Who is welcomed in and who is left out? What makes us a good sister? What do we do when we aren’t good when we hurt each other? How do we forgive and do better? What does it mean in short to study sisterhood?”. Dr. Benjamin goes on to ask the crowd of first-years and graduating seniors “What kind of sister ancestor are we going to be? Successful and compliant? Or Purposeful and courageous? That is, we are our descendant’s wildest dreams”
We all play a part in ending and preventing s*xual violence. It’s our choice to choose to change the world!

About the survey: Have you ever felt unsupported by your peers or fear how they may react when it comes to talking about or reporting s*xual violence? This spring the Title IX Office is releasing a survey to gauge how your peers respond to s*xual violence. Our goal is to foster an inclusive environment where survivors of s*xual violence feel seen and supported. We do this through education, awareness and prevention strategies. However we need YOUR help to better understand students attitudes on topics related to or about s*xual violence. Please complete this survey to help us better serve the Spelman College campus community!
Did you know that Title IX legislation prohibits discrimination based on someone’s s*xual orientation or gender identity? Today we want to shed light on the unspoken. 🏳️🌈 According to the 2020 study “Silencing the Rainbow”, many LGBTQ+ students remain silent about their experiences of s*xual violence. Let’s break the silence and create a safe space for all voices to be heard. +
Empowerment begins with awareness. Let’s break the silence and shed light on the different forms of s*xual violence. Knowledge is power, and together, we can create a safer, more compassionate world. ”
There’s been an update to the line up! RVSP (link in bio) so you don’t miss out on the biggest s*xual health health event of the school year!

Halloween is a time for fun, creativity, and dressing up, but it's crucial to remember that a costume is not an invitation. Wearing a certain outfit doesn't give anyone the right to make unwelcome advances or inappropriate comments.
Respect and consent should always be at the forefront, regardless of what someone is wearing. Let's celebrate and enjoy the spirit of the holiday without crossing boundaries or making others feel uncomfortable.
