Hartley Jeffries ā02, Westminsterās Associate Director of Middle School Admissions, and her family have 51 years of wonderful memories from Westminsterās legendary Summer Day Camp! Hartleyās mom, Ginger Jeffries ā73, began her familyās Summer Camp tradition in 1970 as a camp counselor (second photo, with husband Hill Jeffries ā73). Ginger then sent her kids, Hartley and Hill Jeffries ā05 (first photo), to Summer Camp in the early 1990s. Now that Hartley is a mom of two, she is continuing the tradition by sending her kids, William (third photo) and Virginia Glass (fourth photo) to Summer Camp! We love to learn about the family legacies that form through an experience like Day Camp!

Construction couldnāt stop the Wildcat community from having fun at Summer Camp this year! Despite the temporary closures of Love, Scott, Clarkson, and Broyles due to construction, Westminster hosted 25 Summer Camps in addition to Odyssey and Middle and Upper School Summer School. Many people like Summer Camp Coordinator Kelley Day worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that the actual camp experience hasnāt been altered while accommodating construction.
Decades of excellence and innovation at Westminster are thanks to the generous Wildcat community. Every gift, big or small, makes a difference. If you haven't donated yet, it's not too late to make your gift to the 2023-24 Westminster Fund today! https://brnw.ch/21wL2Q4
Philanthropy 101 wrapped up its four-week-long summer program with final group presentations this Wednesday. Learning from the many non-profit organizations they visited and spoke with, the students proposed their unique solutions to a pressing local issue they care aboutāsuch as water conservation and equal access to womenās healthcare. During these presentations, the PhilanthroCats applied all they had learned and experienced from the course by turning their solutions into potential non-profits with their own mission statements and logos.
After giving each other constructive feedback, the students voted for which group would present at the final luncheon where the creators behind āMed Mobileā showcased their research and solutions in front of some of Atlantaās biggest leaders in philanthropy!
During Summer School, Westminster offers courses in AP Computer Science Principles, Old and New Testament Bible, Marine Biology, and Honors Organic Chemistry for Upper School students. Many Wildcats participate in Summer School to pick up a free period during the regular school year, fulfill a prerequisite, or take a course that isn't offered during the school year.
The Westminster community celebrates Juneteenth! Together, let's reflect on the resilience and unity that define this historic day!
For the 25th year in a row, the Philanthropy 101 course has gathered a group of community-driven students for four weeks in the summer to learn about the āmovers and shakersā of the city of Atlanta. This past Friday, the students visited the āSoccer in the Streetsā non-profit organization to learn about how it creates greater accessibility and equity for under-resourced neighborhoods by developing young leaders through soccer and community engagement. In addition to seeing how the non-profit cultivates a network of soccer fields with major transit stations, the PhilanthroCats also got the chance to enjoy the summer weather by playing soccer with other local teens and children.
Building off their experiences with Atlanta-based organizations like āSoccer in the Streets,ā the students are now working on their decision day presentations and final group projects where they make a donation to a non-profit of their choice and present their research on a local issue they care about!
