Brother Ivo, C.F.X. (Brother Gabriël Vanderjeugt) - Xaverian Brothers Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, [love] is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, …but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. (I Corinthians 13:4, 7-8)

The first day was animated by Father Joseph Likule, who was a teacher of Catechism to Brothers Bernard Mujibi and Alex Musoke. On the last day of the retreat, temporary professed Brothers renewed their vows. The Mass was led by Father Joseph who encouraged Brothers to be confident and resilient in their way of life. Regional coordinator Brother Bernard Juma was the delegate of the General Superior who received the renewed vows.

About Xaverian Brothers

The Xaverian Brothers are a community of consecrated laymen who, as religious Brothers, participate in the Roman Catholic Church’s mission of evangelization through a life of Gospel service lived in solidarity and availability among the people. Founded in Belgium by Theodore James Ryken in 1839 to be missionaries, the Xaverian Brothers have been educators in the United States since 1854. Their ministry in the U.S. includes 13 Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools, as well as many activities of their Brothers in direct service to refugees, prisoners, adult education, and the homeless. They have expanded their ministry work among the poor in Kenya, The Democratic Republic of Congo, and Haiti, while continuing their historic connection with schools in Belgium and the U.K. Following the advice of their founder, Brother Theodore James Ryken, they “march on in faith” knowing that God will provide.
