Calling for Portfolios ā€“ MS in Clinical Anaplastology!

Are you interested in combining clinical science and artistic talent in a direct patient care activity? Consider a career in Clinical Anaplastology!

Clinical Anaplastologists (Ana ā€¢ plast ā€¢ ologists) offer treatment options to patients for whom surgical reconstruction alone cannot restore missing anatomy. Using medical art knowledge and skills, Clinical Anaplastologists create custom-made facial, ocular, and non-weight bearing somatic (body) prostheses as well as custom medical devices, 3D patient-matched models, surgical template/guides and other 3D printed clinical models.

Facial: ear, nose, orbit (area surrounding the eye), and other regions of the face

Ocular: the eye (artificial eye and scleral shell fit over a non-seeing eye)

Non-weight bearing somatic: finger, partial hand, toe, partial foot, breast, and other soft tissues of body

Other custom medical devices: implants, tracheostoma covers, surgical templates/guides/stents

Direct clinical care is provided in collaboration with physicians and patients. Activities include treatment planning, impression taking, sculpting, mold making, casting, colorizing, surface painting and fitting wearable prosthetic devices made from flexible silicone or rigid plastic. Take a look at some of the most common types of prosthesesā€¦
