Since 1972 the University of Baltimore has offered the Master of Business Administration program. In 2006 the program began offering the UB/Towson MBA program jointly between the University of Baltimore's Merrick School of Business and Towson University's College of Business and Economics. In the fall of 2015 the Memorandum of Understanding expired and the two universities decided to end the partnership.

Leadership was the theme of the Fall 2022 University of Baltimore Magazine. Several Merrick School of Business people were highlighted in it. Dr. Lisa Stickney, is a professor of management and chair of the Department of Management and International Business. She shared her thoughts on leadership in the article "Leaders Learn Here."
“Leaders answer the question ‘Where are we going?’ Management’s job is to decide how we’re getting there. You can be a leader and a manager; you can be a leader or a manager; or you can be neither. But it’s not the title that determines if someone’s a leader, it’s their behavior.”

Dr. Lisa Stickney, professor of management, was interviewed for this CNBC article titled, "A 4-day workweek might be coming to Maryland." She shared that support for a shortened workweek has gained steam during the pandemic as levels of work burnout reach a fever pitch around the world.
“The bottom line is, people need relief,” she says. “Research shows performance and productivity go up when you’re rested. Everyone needs a mental break.”

In the Fall 2022 issue of The University of Baltimore Magazine, Professor of Entrepreneurship David Lingelbach, was featured in an article titled "A Fresh Take on the World’s Most Rich and Powerful."
Since the Russian attacks on Ukraine in February, Lingelbach has fielded many media requests for interviews and opinion pieces on the topic of oligarchy. As it says in the article, Lingelbach "...stands out from other contemporary experts because he’s able to help the public see the big picture more clearly."

Yesterday, Merrick School of Business students visited global insurance giant Lloyds of London. Here they are posing in front of the Lutine bell on the underwriting floor.
Our students have safely arrived in London. Yesterday they had some downtime to visit notable city sites like Kensington Palance and Hyde Park, with a stop at The Swan Inn, a pub just north of the park. Today their itinerary includes the Museum of Brands and Lloyds of London.

Wishing you a wonderful day with your family and friends and we are so fortunate to have you as a member of our UBalt Merrick School of Business community.
In 2019, our faculty took a group of our students to London. Now in 2023, we're ready to go back! Have you ever thought about studying abroad? Now is the time to register for our January Global Field Study course. Course dates are Jan. 10-19, 2023. You may qualify for Wright Global Scholars funding to supplement the course cost and fees.
A study aboard course is an excellent addition to your business degree. B.S. in Business Administration alumnus Alex Teitelman shared his thoughts about his 2019 Global Field Study in London.
“I cannot think of a better trip with UB. The trip's educational aspect was worthwhile, and I met some of my best friends and professors in the course. The tour allowed me to experience a new place I had never been.”
We've extended the deadline to Nov. 11. Visit the website to learn more: http://ow.ly/t67Q50LuN6j

Our students benefit from learning from our faculty who are researching and studying relevant topics. Here's a piece that Entrepreneurship Professor David Lingelbach penned for The Hill opinion section about Putin and oligarchs.
Can we find an offramp for Putin? We must consider that he still remains very much in control of a nuclear-armed state.
It is has been too long since we have been able to talk about our Global Field Studies program. We are still going to be virtual this spring, but we are currently enrolling for our SPRING BREAK 2022 course with Dr. Sanwar Sunny. Check out the website UBalt.edu/MerrickGlobal for more information.
