"The Weekend of the Cross is more than a group,” said Jo Ann Sadowsky, a volunteer for Weekend of the Cross. “It’s more than a mission trip. It is a week where we come together to be the hands and feet of Jesus. It is a week that we spend with youth who may not otherwise have the opportunity to do these things and with homeowners who may not have the opportunity to have these things done for them."

Youths install wheelchair ramps during ‘Weekend of the Cross’ with First United Methodist Church At First United Methodist Church on Jackson Street in Alexandria, there is a goal to build 10 wheelchair ramps for local residents in need.

Louisiana's own Elizabeth McCormick gave a presentation at SCJC, and we wanted to make sure you didn't miss it. During her talk, Elizabeth spoke about the Climate Justice Movement, a coalition of individuals from various United Methodist Churches and agencies, all dedicated to the work of climate justice.

It was so great to see David and Elizabeth McCormick present at the 2024 South Central Jurisdictional Conference. David presented on behalf of Global Ministries, and Elizabeth delivered a LED talk.

The Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church has sent a $10,000 solidarity grant to the Texas Annual Conference to assist communities devastated by Hurricane Beryl. Bishop Delores J. Williamston said, "Louisiana knows all too well how crucial financial support is for churches responding to disasters. We give out of an abundance of love for our neighbors to the west and continue to pray for them. Our hearts are with all those affected by this storm, and we stand ready to continue supporting them as they respond with the hands and feet of Jesus Christ."
