Youths install wheelchair ramps during ‘Weekend of the Cross’ with First United Methodist Church 07/20/2024

"The Weekend of the Cross is more than a group,” said Jo Ann Sadowsky, a volunteer for Weekend of the Cross. “It’s more than a mission trip. It is a week where we come together to be the hands and feet of Jesus. It is a week that we spend with youth who may not otherwise have the opportunity to do these things and with homeowners who may not have the opportunity to have these things done for them."

UMC bishops condemn divisive rhetoric and political violence 07/17/2024

UMC bishops condemn divisive rhetoric and political violence. “As Christ’s followers, we are called to be healers in our churches, communities, countries, and the world. In these times of political tension and disagreement, we must remember our shared humanity, the sacred worth, and the inherent dignity of every person.”

UMC bishops condemn divisive rhetoric and political violence We urge all United Methodists to denounce the divisive rhetoric and violence pervading our society and work towards creating paths of reconciliation, dialogue, and nonviolent solutions to our differences. May we love one another and build bridges towards peace and unity.

One of the proudest moments of the 2024 Annual Conference for Bishop Williamston was witnessing the youth of The Louisiana Conference come together to organically organize and create a plan for the future. Their energy and proactive spirit left a lasting impression and inspired her deeply.

Another highlight for Bishop Delores J. Williamston at AC24 was near the end. Throughout the conference, Bishop Delores J. Williamston posed a thought-provoking question: "Do you want to be made well?" As AC24 concluded, Rev. Ali Young highlighted the crucial topic of clergy care, discussing the proactive steps The Office of Clergy Excellence is taking to ensure clergy in Louisiana are well-supported.

Today, we honor Juneteenth, marking the end of slavery in the U.S. and celebrating freedom and resilience. The Conference office is closed today in observance. Let us all reflect on our history, recognize our progress, and recommit to pursuing justice and equality for all.

Bishop Delores J. Williamston will remember many aspects of the 2024 Annual Conference. However, one experience that continues to resonate with her is the conclusion of the Celebration of Ministry Service. After the service, several people came forward, a profound and holy encounter that still excites her.
