BACKGROUND:
On July 11th, 2024, LPSO Domestic Violence Detectives were notified that during a stabbing investigation - conducted by Denham Springs Police Detectives - a battery occurred on July 10th outside of their jurisdiction.
Denham Springs Police Chief Rodney Walker says, ‘On the afternoon of July 10th, 2024, Denham Springs Police Officers were dispatched to LA Hwy 16 near John Martin Lane in reference to a female in the roadway suffering from an apparent stab wound. Officers arrived on scene and found the female victim suffering from a potentially life threatening wound. The victim was taken to OLOL Baton Rouge for further medical attention. Investigators learned of the female passenger being beaten inside the vehicle while traveling on LA Hwy 16. When the victim tried to escape her abuser by opening the passenger’s side door, the suspect began swinging a knife and struck the victim. The suspect continued driving away from the scene in the vehicle and was gone when officers arrived. The vehicle was later located, abandoned, in a parking lot. Investigators learned about the relationship between the driver of the vehicle and the victim and also learned about other crimes which were committed in Livingston Parish (outside the city of Denham Springs) involving the same suspect and victim.’
Sheriff Jason Ard says, ‘LPSO detectives began investigating the matter and learned about an argument at a residence located on Juban Rd. between Christopher Aucoin and a female victim. Christopher was armed with a knife & battered the female victim while at the residence. He then forced the female into a vehicle while armed & fled. The victim was able to escape from the moving vehicle a short time later (this is when the Denham Springs PD investigation began).’
