Avoiding the Summer Slide

January 27th marks International Holocaust Remembrance Day, when the world commemorates the 6 million Jews who perished during World War II. The day serves as a reminder that to honor their memory, we must commit ourselves to preventing such an atrocity from happening again.

If you plan to cover the Holocaust in your teachings, and would like a free copy of Anne Frank's Diary of a Young Girl, let me know. I can send it to you by mail for the cost of shipping, or you can make arrangements to come pick it up. Let me know.

Greetings everyone! It’s that time of the year again! For those of you who have used IXL for the past year, our school subscription for Christ’s Way Academy will expire on August 26, 2023. If you are interested in renewing your group pay, please let me know. With our group pay, the cost is still $40 for the full year of access to math and language arts for Pre-K thru 12th grade, and $60 for the full year of access to math, language arts, science and social studies for thru 8th grade. We also include Spanish for $10 extra per child. As you know, this is a fantastic deal because it costs $79 for one subject per year for a family membership, $129 for two subjects, or $159 for the four-subject package if you go through their website.

We renew our membership with IXL once a year, so those who are interested should send their money in to our program via PayPal, Venmo, or CashApp. After receipt of payment, I will add your child/children to our roster. I will need your email address, the access you are interested in, and your child’s/children’s names.

Greetings everyone! I am looking for a donated space for my after-school tutoring program and HiSET Prep. I could use maybe 300 - 400 square feet. Christ's Way Academy of Learning is a 501c3 educational organization. I am currently using a small classroom at my church, but now that I am in a wheelchair, I need more space to move around. If you have some space or know of available space, please let me know. Thank you.

This weekend I want to pray for parents, students, and educators (admin, faculty and staff). I ask the Holy One to bless the parents who are sending their children off to school. Whether it is pre-k, middle school, high school and/or college. We pray for the parents peace. We ask God to give them what they need as they send their child off into uncharted territory. We pray for the students who are embarking on the academic year with fear, anxiety or worry. We ask Spirit to cover. We pray for their protection. We ask that Spirit places a hedge around them wherever they may be and wherever they will go. Give them what they need. Lastly we pray for every educator who is charged with engaging, enlightening and embracing our children. We ask God to strengthen their minds to inspire and equip. Most High we know that you are in control of every situation, we know that you are the God of light, God of peace, the God of protection. We love and praise you! Asé and Amen.

Christ's Way Academy is partnering with New Readers Press for an Online Learning HiSET Prep program. We have 12 spots left for our pilot program, which will begin on August 1st.

Our HiSET Exam Prep Online Learning course is designed to help students succeed on the HiSET high school equivalency test. It is perfect for students who are coming to class and want additional practice, as well as students interested only in distance learning.

Course content includes four subject areas:

Reading and Language Arts
Math
Science
Social Studies

Confidence-based learning, games, badges, and study tools promote student engagement and independent learning. Practice and assessment feedback help students focus their study time.
