Good news

MACV is thrilled to reveal the purchase of the Ultima, a brand-new 8-unit apartment building in Rochester, Minnesota. This endeavor has been made possible through the invaluable support of the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, underscoring our shared commitment to those who have served our country.

What makes this building special? This is the first time MACV is offering supportive housing in the Rochester area for the first time, providing much-needed options in one of Minnesota’s hardest-hit regions for lack of affordable housing. May is one of our favorite months at the Military Women's Memorial. While we celebrate and appreciate all who have served and are serving as well as our military community every day, May is extra special as our NATION COMES TOGETHER to show our GRATITUDE FOR OUR MILITARY.

Our team at the Military Women's Memorial sends our sincere gratitude to all who serve our nation. We can never thank you enough for your service and sacrifice.

We hope you will take some time this month to join us at the Military Women's Memorial to learn about the women who have served and are serving our nation. Our exhibit gallery tells the collective stories of women who have served our nation from the American Revolution to today, and our MWM National Register tells the individual stories of these women.

Explore, learn, honor, and remember - explore our exhibit gallery, look up a woman in our national Register and learn her story, leave your legacy and register your story of service, and take a mindful moment to remember our military women who are no longer with us. And in the days and months after your visit, we hope you will share at least one of stories of service you learned at the Memorial with a friend or family member. Pass it on in gratitude for Military Appreciation Month.

Respect!

March 25th is National Medal of Honor Day.

First celebrated on March 25, 1991. The 25th of March was chosen because it was on that date in 1863 that the first Medals of Honor were presented to six members of Andrews’ Raiders.

To its Recipients, the Medal of Honor represents more than recognition of combat actions. Instead, it symbolizes the sacrifices of those we served alongside and those who came before.

Today, we honor and remember those who went above and beyond the call of duty to receive our nation's highest military honor.

On , we commemorate one of World War II's most celebrated flight nurses, Aleda Ester Lutz.

Aleda E. Lutz flew 196 missions and evacuated over 3,500 men. In November 1944, during an evacuation flight from the front lines near Lyon, France, her C-47 crashed, killing all aboard.

Aleda was the first American servicewoman to be killed in combat during World War II and the first military woman to receive the Distinguished Flying Cross, which she received posthumously.

Thank you for your service, Aleda. Today, we proudly salute you.
