Shelli Walters newest paper mache and mixed media creation is such a hoot!
"Gathering Wisdom" my latest paper mache creation is poised to greet you as you enter Tumalo Art Company this weekend. I've discovered a few new techniques in creating these sculptures. I layered paper mache strips and paper mache clay over the form to create the owl. After it dried I sanded it and dusted off my Dremel to create the textured finish. I used old twisted up wire for his talons and mounted it to chunks of an Aspen tree from my backyard. Whats old, irrelevant and discarded becomes art. I'm hoping that happens to me, ha ha!

I have a favorite spot on the Oregon Coast where there is a small cove out of the wind with a perfect view of the Pacific. I sink my feet into the soft warm sand and let the salt do its magic. This 12x12 painting is currently at Tumalo Art Company with two seascape companions. Stop by and see if they take you away for a few moments.

Tumalo Art Co.—a fine art collective
About 15 years ago a group of artists got together and decided to start their own gallery in rural Tumalo, Oregon. Three years later the group reformed and landed a couple of blocks off Wall Street in downtown Bend, Oregon, and right as the recession of 2009 hit with full-force they were invited to open their doors in Bend’s thriving Old Mill District. They took the leap and 10 years later are still bringing a vibrant and sophisticated mix of diverse art offerings to Central Oregon. Believing that art is enriching to everyone’s life, the artists become gallerists several days a month and interact at the gallery with appreciators and collectors. Tumalo Art Co. is open 7 days a week, from 10am-8pm Monday through Saturday and 11am-6pm on Sundays. Take a stroll along the beautiful Deschutes River, which winds through the Old Mill District, and stop by to take in lots of marvelous art!
