We battle inflammation for many reasons. Inflammation can be caused by stress, lifestyle choices, food allergies or sensitivities that we may or may not know we have, and from environmental toxins, to name a few.

Some of these we can control, some we cannot. But there are definite ways we can combat the inflammation in its tracks, and a lot of those have to do with our food choices.

Some inflammation causing foods can include:
processed foods, sugar, dairy products, alcohol, fried foods. Some foods that can help fight inflammation can include: leafy greens, cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and brussels sprouts, pineapple, blueberries, and ginger, to name a few.
Being mindful of reducing as many of the inflammation causing foods, and replacing them with inflammation-fighting foods is a great place to start.

Do you struggle with sleep? Sometimes no matter how much we dream of a good night's sleep, our bodies have other plans.

Iโ€™m sure you are well aware of what NOT to drink to disrupt your sleep... like a big, hot, delicious cup of coffee. But do you know what you SHOULD drink to help you catch some Zzzโ€™s? Here are some of my favorite drinks that are helpful for drifting off to sleep:

* Sleepytime Tea. There are many different brands to choose from that you can find at any grocery store, so pick one up and give it a try.

* Golden milk. It's also great for your overall health too! Golden milk is so versatile and can be easily made vegan by using plant-based choices.

* Tart Cherry Juice. Naturally a source of melatonin which helps promote healthy sleep.

* Magnesium. Helps to promote great sleep, and is also helpful for digestion.

* Melatonin. Easy to take whether it be drops or a tablet you dissolve under your tongue.

No matter how hard we try, curveballs will always find a way to sneak in. Itโ€™s an inevitability of life, and thatโ€™s perfectly fine โ€” if we are prepared to handle them!

This season especially can feel hectic, rushed, overbooked and anxiety-ridden. So itโ€™s the perfect time to put your focus on how you handle these stressors of life and make some tweaks to improve any areas that need a pick-me-up.

The thing about a worrisome mind is that itโ€™s typically worrying about the future. This makes it extremely hard to be present, so being conscious of this is crucial. Practice being present and mindful of your current moment, the day youโ€™re in right now, and with practice, youโ€™ll notice the stress of tomorrow will dissipate over time.

Sometimes, when I feel particularly anxious, I focus on each of my senses. What do I smell right now? What do I see right now? What do I hear right now?

This brings you to the present moment and helps snap you out of your anxious thoughts.

I just have to share this recipe because it's sooo good and healthy too! Please don't let the "Vegan" scare you off. You can easily tweak it so it's not and it's still yummy๐Ÿ˜‹

Vegan Roasted Banana and Chocolate Chip Loaf

๐Ÿ”ธ 3 medium, ripe bananas
๐Ÿ”ธ 3 tbsp. golden flax seeds (for the flax eggs)
๐Ÿ”ธ 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp. water (for the flax eggs)
๐Ÿ”ธ 1/4 cup golden flax seeds, ground
๐Ÿ”ธ 1/4 cup almond milk (I use unsweetened vanilla)
๐Ÿ”ธ 1 1/2 cups almond flour
๐Ÿ”ธ 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
๐Ÿ”ธ 1/2 tsp. salt
๐Ÿ”ธ 1/2 cup chocolate chips (non-dairy, I use Enjoy Life)

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease your loaf pan (you can also use two mini pans if you like) Peel bananas and place on baking dish. Roast for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and adjust temperature to 350.

2. While the bananas are roasting, mix your flax eggs. Put the 3 tbsp. flax seed in a small bowl and add the water. Mix with a small whisk or fork and place the bowl in the refrigerator for a minimum of 15 minutes. This will allow your egg to "set up".

3. In a small mixing bowl, combine flax, almond milk, and flax eggs (when ready). Mix until smooth. Let stand about 5 minutes for the mixture to thicken. Beat in bananas by hand until smooth.

4. In a large mixing bowl, combine almond flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well. Stir wet ingredients into flour mixture. If mixture is dry, add more almond milk, 1 tablespoon at a time. Fold in chocolate chips.

5. Pour into loaf pan(s) and bake for 20-25 minutes, until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Let cool 10 minutes, remove from pan(s) and serve. Enjoy!!!๐Ÿ˜Š

Note: Replace flax eggs with 3 large eggs if you don't want to make it vegan.
