We had a Victory!

With the help of loyal Rebuilders, RTEBN is partnering with the City of Richmond, to make a difference for our unhoused neighbors and give them the tools to find their homes. The City of Richmond received two grants totaling $10 million from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Clean California Local Grant Program.

The program provides funds to local and regional public agencies, transit agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits to clean and beautify public spaces, including your local streets and roads, tribal lands, parks, pathways, and transit centers. Rebuilding Together East Bay-North and Safe Organized Spaces Richmond will engage and uplift unhoused neighbors near the infrastructure projects through training and employment for trash clean-up as well as housing navigation and personal wellness services. Together we won a significant portion of the Caltrans grant to improve the Borman Park neighborhood of Richmond, including addressing a large encampment of unhoused individuals and families.

On Friday, we had a great team of assemblers at the Horizon Village, who put together tables and cubicle walls. Well done, team! We're chipping away at all the work ahead of us to make this space feel as comfortable as possible.

Thanks, Nixxit Junk Removal, for helping us get materials for the Horizon Transitional Village!

A big thank you to these volunteers from Rebuilding Together East Bay-North for stopping by the Nixxit warehouse today to collect some donations.

We’ve been on the hunt the last several weeks for commercial items that can be repurposed for the organization’s Horizon project - a rehabed warehouse in turned transitional housing. This rehabed warehouse space will provide meals, workshops, housing, and other services to our most vulnerable neighbors.

Here’s a load full of cubicles going off to their new home. 🏡

Check out website (rtebn.org/horizon-transitional-village-program) to learn more about this awesome project.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Who We Are

We are a non-profit organization which provides free safety and accessibility renovations and critical repairs for low-income senior and disabled homeowners, including veterans.

Neighbors helping neighbors, like the barn-raising of old, is the American spirit in action. Rebuilding Together (formerly Christmas in April) was born of that spirit as people came together to help low-income neighbors fix their houses—first in Texas, then in Washington D.C. and then California and beyond.

Rebuilding Together believes in a safe and healthy home for every person. This means that we believe disabled and aging homeowners should be able to remain in their homes for as long as possible.
