She found BEAM to be one of the most rewarding experiences — learning from her mentees, expanding her creativity, and being a part of a supportive community. This week's spotlight is Brendan Tsuda (Class of '21), who graduated with a degree in chemical biology and was a member of BEAM for all four of his years at Cal.

Brendan has always believed in the power and value of teaching — how it can inspire minds, touch hearts, and create smiles. He found BEAM nothing short of rewarding, especially sharing his experience with an amazing group of people.

Every dollar counts towards purchasing lesson materials so our mentees can get participate in engaging builds and hands-on activities as well as covering transportation costs for our mentors.

Our first lesson to mentees this semester taught concepts of force, thrust, Newton's Third Law, and of course — who doesn't remember the engineering design process?!? Students got hyped launching bottle rockets into the sky!

Meet Nico Carballal (Class of '21) — a BEAM alumni with a degree in mechanical engineering who also served as the organization's President from 2020 to 2021!

For Nico, BEAM was about providing others the same opportunities he was able to have and pursue to every child — regardless of their race, gender, or background.
