Hear important Summit updates and celebrate the launch of the Coalition's Agenda: "Unifying the Vision for Systemic Change." Space is limited.

The purpose of is to highlight efforts led by
(BMMA), and collectively work toward a future where ALL Black Mamas have the rights, respect, and resources to thrive throughout their lives-including in their reproductive years. This year's theme is “Our Bodies STILL Belong to Us: Reproductive Justice NOW!”

Kicking off Black Maternal Health Week 2024 ( ), in collaboration with Jamaa Birth Village, the Black Doula Day Virtual Pep Rally aims to celebrate the joy of Black birth, honor holistic restoration, and ensure sustainability in Black Maternal Health efforts. While acknowledging the importance of supporting people during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum; Black Doula Day consists of a national collaborative effort of Doulas creating this safe space for Doulas, mothers, birthing people, and supporters alike.

Focused primarily on expectant parents, but all are welcome.

Where: Pacifica Family Maternity Center

When: 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month starting March 10th.

This group’s focus will take shape based on the interest of participants.
The facilitator is a q***r parent and healthcare provider who formally attended these groups at Pacifica when expecting a baby 5 years ago!

This week, we pay tribute to a remarkable woman who delivered over 4,000 babies during her seven-decade career as a midwife.

Bennie “Mama” McGuire, born in 1885, embarked on her midwifery journey at the age of 13 when she assisted in delivering her first baby, marking the beginning of her lifelong dedication. In a 1973 newspaper article from The Courier News, Bennie shared her early experiences, highlighting her unwavering commitment to natural childbirth and breastfeeding within medically permissible bounds.

As midwifery gradually yielded to nurse practitioners, Bennie advocated for the irreplaceable bond between a midwife and an expectant mother. She believed that mothers entrusted her with a distinct sense of confidence that transcended mere medical care.
