Danai here 🫡 I’m the owner and you probably won’t say my name correctly the first time you meet me. My dad was driving his tractor when he came up with my name and then my grandfather created the spelling.

Anyways I’m going on my tenth year of owning MAVEN Beverly Hills. MAVEN is a collective creative space where people come to enjoy luxury hair services in a relaxed environment.

Actually I just made that up but that is what I have witnessed for years. During a appointment their hair is filling in, becoming longer and thicker their posture starts to change, eyes widen and little smile begins to form.

There is a journey behind the photos. Healthy hair journey. Would you believe her hair was a fried mess at one point. Through the proper care, no more bleach and wearing extensions her natural hair has added inches.

Handtied wefts is the preferred method for her. They cover a lot of space on the head and give her length and volume.

If you come to me with fried hair my number one goal is to get it healthy not throw a bandaid on it.

What are custom blends ?

If your hair isn’t solid black then you need custom blended hair. Getting a good blend is what’s going to make the install look natural.

For this install I chose to color them myself to mimic the highlight and root pattern that was already in her hair.

Maybe you can relate .. I’m burnt out with social media. My creativity behind the chair and inside my business is flowing but when it comes to social media I just can’t show up consistently. It sucks my creativity. The catch is it’s great for my business and a lot of you who sit in my chair found me on social media. But the burn out is real. Im not going to announce a social media break. I think that’s silly when people do. A social media recharge is needed.

Cheers to the bold lineage of women I come from. Women who had babies at the train depo on their trip across America and got right back on the train. The woman who packed up her family despite her husbands resistants and moved from Oklahoma to California. The woman who got on a ship and sailed from Portugal to the americas. All these bold decisions of my great grandmothers created me. I understand how I came out of the womb with a you can’t stop me attitude.

Do you have difficulty communicating what you want ?
A perfect place to start the consultation is with a photo. This gives the stylist some direction of what you like and how you interpret what you see. Your version of a golden blonde and your stylist may be different.

Bring a few different photos including one you don’t like.

When looking for photos find someone with similar skin tone to yours so you understand how that hair color will reflect off your skin.

It’s happening again, a new journey. Next week I move this guy to Canada to live for the hockey season. It’s such a bag of mixed emotions, happiness, excitement and mourning. Watching my son reach for his dreams one step at a time is exciting. I mourn him being home and little. How can you not , he has been my focus for so long that I get a little lost when he isn’t home. The first few weeks or maybe months when he leaves I feel off. Not sad just off. I don’t share much about my personal life on this page but my journey with this guy has been a huge part of my driving force behind my career. Kids are observant and absorb everything you go through. No matter what we made things happen. When he was young and I was building my career finances were tight and travel hockey was expensive. I wasn’t able to afford where majority of the team stayed so we stayed in cheap motels. It didn’t matter, he showed up on time and ready to play. No one knew where we slept the night before. Now this guy gets upgraded to first class because of his status on airlines. My career and his hockey have kind of ran parallel with each other. Weird to think about. Anyways thought I would share something outside of hair that is precious to me. Proud mom here who is a little sad her son is leaving but excited at the same time. Lots of emotions

The other night I was at a dinner with a group of friends and we were discussing what we would do if we hit the billion dollar lotto , I said I would disappear for three months to do some traveling. They said only three months ? My response, Yes I love the life I have built.
