For me? I am going to grow out my back layers and make sure I keep up with my protein treatments to make my hair thick and healthy. (I can be lazy and not make time for the self care!) π

β¨ Nothing is more frustrating than spending the time curling your hair only for all the curls to fall flat and straight a couple hours later.π’
But donβt worry! So many of my clients have struggled with the same thing and these 5 tips and tricks make such a difference!
Tip #1 - Swap your iron out
If your iron is old, damaged, super low quality, or the iron barrel is too large - all of these can affect how well your hair holds! Investing in a higher quality iron ΒΌ - Β½ inch smaller can make a big difference in how long your curls last! π
Tip #2 - Prep your hair
Using a heat protectant with hold, mousse, light hold hairspray, or dry texture before curling your hair can increase the longevity of your curls as well as giving you texture and volume! My favorite product for this is Unite Hair's 7Seconds Detangler spray!β€οΈ
Tip #3 - Make sure youβre properly curling your hair
If youβre curling your hair from the ends up, most of the curls will be at the bottom where they are more likely to fall out. Learning to curl from the middle of the strand first whether with a curling iron or wand will help your curls last longer! Also, taking the time to section your hair will help you make sure all your hair is getting heated enough to form the curl!
Tip #4 - Your hair is too clean or too dirty
For the longest lasting curls, your hair needs to be in the sweet spot of being clean enough it's not too oily but also dirty enough to have grit and texture to hold your curl. Applying some dry shampoo before your curl can be a great way to control oil and add texture so your curls can last longer! My favorite dry shampoo is Unite Hair's U Dry Plus+!β€οΈ
Tip #5 - Youβre not letting your curls set
Letting your curls completely cool before relaxing them with your fingers or a brush can make a huge difference in your curls lifespan. Try curling your hair and letting your curls cool completely before brushing them out. If your hair is extra stubborn, try pinning or curls or holding them with your hand while they cool down so they have a chance to set into the curl formation completely before running your fingers or a brush through them!

This time of year, the weather can be so unpredictable sometimes! π One day it's sunnyπ and hot, and the next day it's cold and rainy. β And, guess what? Your hair feels the effects of those changes too!
That's why I wanted to share some tips with you on how to keep your hair healthy and happy, no matter what Mother Nature throws our way! π€
Stay hydrated: Your hair needs moisture just like your body does, so make sure you're drinking plenty of water throughout the day. π¦
Protect your hair from the elements: If it's windy or rainy outside, wear a hat or use a scarf to protect your hair from getting too frizzy or damaged. π π§£
Use a good quality hair mask: Your hair might be feeling dry or brittle due to the weather changes. Using a nourishing hair mask once a week can help to restore moisture and keep your locks looking healthy. (Olaplex No. 8 is the bomb for this!) π₯
Invest in a leave-in conditioner: A good leave-in conditioner can help to protect your hair from the elements and prevent damage. Apply it to your hair after you shower and throughout the day as needed. (Unite Hair's 7 Seconds Detangler is my go to!!) β€οΈ
Get regular trims: Regular trims are important for keeping your hair healthy and preventing split ends. Plus, a fresh haircut always feels good and can help you embrace the changing season with confidence! π±ββοΈ

How often is optimal to color my hair to cover grey and what do I do about roots? π¨
I know that covering grey can be frustrating when you're one of the lucky women that have fast growing hair. Can I color it every 2-3 weeks???
Ideally, you should do a root touch up every 4 to 6 weeks, and no later than 8 weeks. This isnβt purely because itβll look better, but for biological reasons, too.
Your scalp gives off heat, and this heat wonβt extend much further than 1/2 an inch to 3/4 of an inch past the root. When hair color is developing on your head, this heat can work to speed up the developing process. However, color may expand to the previously colored hair. This could lead to uneven color results or bands of different color when you color your roots more often and with minimal hair growth.
To remedy this, I use a demi permanent color on the rest of the hair or add lowlights in between foiled highlights to balance out the color. I also always recommend conditioning or protein treatments depending on the needs of the hair.
In addition, root cover ups, such as Color Wow or Loreal root touch up come in a variety of shades and applicator style (some are powder and some are sprays) are fantastic to cover those pesky greys between color appointments.

Let's bust a myth: Going to bed with wet hair won't save you from heat damage, it could actually make it worse!π±
While it may seem like a harmless quick fix, it turns out that this habit might be doing more harm than good to your hair! π€―
When hair is wet, π¦ it's in its most vulnerable state and sleeping on it can cause it to break and become more prone to damage. β οΈ
On the other hand, using a heat protectant (my fav is Unite Hair 7Seconds leave in detangler and heat protectant) and blow-drying your hair properly can actually help reduce damage and breakage.
Or...my life hack is to shower, wash my hair, apply 7Seconds leave in plus Unite's Blonda Oil *also a heat protectant, then allow my hair to just air dry before I hit the sack. My hair is so silky and shiny the next day! I will just mist my bangs with water and blow dry my bangs then just use a curling iron to style the rest. Easy peesy and my hair is still protected from heat! π±ββοΈ πΈ π΅οΈ
