As I promised, here is an update of the healing progress of this wonderful patient. Complex upper and lower eyelid surgery before and after.

She’s 5 months out from this complex case, and I will continue to show how she heals. This wonderful patient of mine l’ve been taking care of for years for non surgical treatments, finally came to see asking to have me help her eyes.

She had longstanding mild ptosis, asymmetric upper lids (left more skin than her right), asymmetric lid creases, and prominent lower lid fat pockets. A left only upper lid blepharoplasty was performed, along with ptosis repair (internal approach) in both upper lids, reforming lid creases and making them symmetric, and a lower lid blepharoplasty with fat repositioning.
She looks incredible, and we’re both so thrilled to see how she’s healed so far!

Lovely outcome for a patient who underwent a conservative upper blepharoplasty within the office. Although she is of asian descent, she already had a crease but just desired a little bit of excess skin to be removed so that a bit more eyelid show was prevalent. Male upper eyelid blepharoplasty to remove excess skin and create some eyelid show. Here he is only 6 weeks out and looking amazing already. Minor swelling is still present but will continue to improve over the next several weeks. The goal here was to rejuvenate the upper lids, while preserving a natural looking and masculine result. Eyelid asymmetry, as subtle as it can be in many people, is a common complaint I see in my practice in patients of all ages. When significant enough, upper lid blepharoplasty can make a beautiful improvement. Here is a very lovely patient of mine that was bothered by her right upper lid always looking lower and heavier than her left eyelid. She tried neuromodulators (botox) injections with very little improvement. I performed a right upper lid blepharoplasty in the office under local anesthesia. It's a very subtle improvement, but you can see how the eyelids look more balanced and symmetric. The incision has healed incredibly well with the help of scar. We're both thrilled with her new and beautiful eyes!

Beautiful transformation after undergoing an in addition to the upper to help improve the excess upper eyelid skin and lower set brows. It's hard to completely tell here in the photos but she had low set brows and was also trying to compensate by using her frontalis (forehead muscles). This was leading to fatigue, headache, and a constant tired appearance. Her results shown here are just 3 months after her procedure and she is healing wonderfully. Take a look at her brow position after her surgery: it's not dramatically elevated, right? But rather stabilized with a slight improvement in shape and position to a more youthful look. That's the key for a good, natural looking brow lift. The incisions from the endoscopic brow lift are within the hairline so they are not visible, and upper lid incisions are healing well with the use of scar cream. Beautiful results just one month out from an upper procedure done within the office. The patient was happy with her eyes but just wanted to remove some of the excess skin that caused heaviness to the upper eyelid area. She did not want to change her look tremendously but rather have a natural looking result.  I used her upper lid natural creases and did not perform a double eyelid surgery in her case. Beautiful results from a male procedure. He had lower eyelid fat pockets, significant hollowing, and some skin texture changes. A non-visible incisional approach lower lid was used to remove the excess fat and what was necessary to improve his under eye hollowing. The goal here was to ensure a natural looking result, avoid any change to his eyelid shape or structure, and provide a quick recovery. He's seen here two months out and is healing well so far! Beautiful results after an in-office upper blepharoplasty procedure to remove a natural amount of excess skin. Her upper eyelids were hooding over her lash line and causing a heaviness to her upper eyelids. Do you think she also needed a brow lift? In her case, I did recommend a brow lift as well in conjunction with an upper eyelid surgery to give the best results, but the patient's desires were to undergo a minimal, in-office procedure as she desired a conservative result. Hence, we proceeded with an upper eyelid blepharoplasty alone in her case. This procedure is rather quick and just performed under a local anesthesia with only about a week of downtime in which sutures are placed in the upper eyelid. By week two you are back to work with very minimal redness, swelling, or bruising. She is looking amazing in her after photos here, 3 months after her surgery during her routine follow-up appointment.

It’s going to be a beautiful day ahead with talks that I’ll be giving to my colleagues on topics in blepharoplasty, managing under eye fillers prior to blepharoplasty, going through who is a good candidate for fillers versus blepharoplasty, and also talking about my interest and expertise in hyperpigmentation and ingredients that that safe alternatives to hydroquinone. Although I’m not speaking about Skinuva Brite on that topic, a lot of ingredients I discuss are found in Skinuva Brite, which is product that I developed two years ago and is now really helping out so many patients that wish to use a non-hydroquinone product to improve their acquired hyperpigmentation (such as melasma, PIH). Looking forward to this event and seeing everybody there!

We had a special visit from one of our international patients who was back in LA for a vist. He's one year out from his upper and lower eyelid surgery. He had previously undergone an upper lid blepharoplasty, and wanted to have some of the scars and lateral bumps revised, which I was able to help him with. His lower lids had a lot of prominent fat pockets, with under eye hollowing, and some skin texture issues. Do you think he had skin removed in his lower eyelids? He actually didn't, I recommended a fractionated C02 laser to help improve the skin texture, and you can see the results are wonderful. A skin pinch wouldn't have made a huge improvement in his case, and would probably have put him at more of a risk for delayed healing and other issues. He's a wonderful human being and a true gentleman, he is a hero for his amazing service to our country, and my office and I are truly blessed to have taken care of him. Beautiful new eyes in a young man that wanted to improve his prominent lower lid fat pockets. He underwent a scarless lower lid blepharoplasty with fat repositioning.
