LOURDES UPDATE: We continue to experience technology issues that may cause delays in responding to inquiries and processing prescription refill requests.

To expedite your refill request, please call your pharmacy and ask the pharmacist to FAX (not send electronically) the request to your provider. Prescriptions for controlled substances must be picked up at your provider's office.

We are taking extra time with each patient to ensure the best and safest care possible, which may cause some delays. We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve these issues. Thank you!

Tonight Guthrie Lourdes Auxiliary held its annual Ball at The Riverdale in Endwell. The Auxilary presented a check for $100,000 to Guthrie Lourdes Orthopedics to support new technology.

Guthrie Lourdes Hospital's commitment to its patients earned it the #2 spot for Joint Replacement and #3 spot for Orthopedic Surgery in New York, as well as seven other orthopedic rankings by . Hospitals are evaluated for spots based on their patient care outcomes. We're proud of Lourdes for this achievement!

Congratulations to Melissa Ross, a patient care technician with the 1 Medical care team here at Lourdes Hospital, for being named this month's BEE Award recipient! 🐝

The "BEE" (BEE Extraordinary Everyday) Award recognizes non-nursing team members who consistently go above and beyond to make a positive difference at Lourdes.

Melissa's dedication and compassion recently touched the heart of a patient who required special continued supervision and care during an extended stay of more than a month at the hospital. In their nomination, the nominator wrote in part:

"[She] would spend time with him, walk with him, joke and talk to him... [On one] particular day she approached the management team asking if she could take him off the unit. She then coordinated with the RN to obtain an order so she was able to take him to the atrium.

"The two of them strolled back from the atrium together, ice cream in hand, full of laughter. Melissa spent her own money to purchase him an ice cream. His smile said it all."

Thank you, Melissa, for exemplifying the true Lourdes BEE spirit!

The international award, created by the DAISY Foundation, is given to nurses who show excellence through their clinical expertise and extraordinary, compassionate care — while also serving as a role model and leader within the nursing community.

Nick, shown below with his fellow members of the Seton 2 team, was nominated for the award by one of his recent patients. In their nomination, the patient wrote, in part:

"I have to admit that all of my nurses while I was on Seton 2 were absolutely excellent... Nick took it one step beyond great care... Nick checked on me often, with a sincere kindness and confidence. He displayed all of the qualities a nurse must have. I sincerely appreciated his great care and courtesy. As I mentioned, my nurses... were all fantastic. Their care is helping me to recover better at home."
