Meet Kara Baruzzini! We are excited to welcome Kara to Blue. In addition to popping in to sub classes, she will be teaching a newly added Vinyasa class on Fridays at 4:30pm, beginning next week, 6/14!!!!!

Kara is a full time Somatic-based Life Coach with a passion for movement. While she has shared yoga across the country, and even the world in the past decade, Detroit has always been her yoga home. at Blue Yoga. Saturday, April 20th 1-3pm $60

Earn your certification in this workshop, open to the community, students and teachers. An AED, or automated external defibrillator, is used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. It’s a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use, medical device that can analyze the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart establish a normal rhythm. We found it important to have an AED device now on premises at blue. AEDs are a crucial addition to life saving skills like CPR.

Learn when and how to use one in an emergency. Taught by First Responders and Critical Care Healthcare providers experienced in the field of Emergency Medicine. High quality LED feedback equipment will be used for hands on exemplary training in this workshop.

We’d like to give a warm welcome to, Dana Gold, the newest teacher to join our team!

Dana has been an engaged student in the Detroit yoga community for a very long time and completed teacher training with Blue in 2022. We love the authentic laughter and light she brings to her classes!

Dana absolutely fell in love with yoga when she took her first class over a decade ago. As a former distance runner, she loves the endorphins this spiritual practice brings. Life can be stressful, and Dana finds yoga soothing and balancing, physically and mentally.

Welcome Trina Roberts to the Blue Yoga teaching team! You probably recognize Trina from the studio already or walking her two labradoodles around town! She’ll be teaching Slowburn Thursdays at 6:00pm.

“In a world full of distractions and chaos, we all seek a place of peace. After 25 years of practicing yoga, I’ve found no better way to nourish that inner seed of calm presence. Yoga connects the body and mind, using breath and posture to become present and aware of thoughts, emotions, and sensations without judgment. By slowing down, we can enter that still space within and allow our consciousness to grow. In stillness, our body and mind can soften and harmonize with the flow of the universe.”

In Trina’s Slowburn classes, she aims to challenge students to slow down, feel deeply and to find the strength and courage to explore the edge with compassion and acceptance.

H e a v e n l y Y i n This Sunday! 🫠

Join Blue Yoga teachers, Kelly Frank and Haily Montgomery, for a 75 minute Yin yoga experience. Bring a pillow and a blanket (washable) and relax as Kelly and Haily guide you through a series of resting postures, all seated or reclining, designed to help you release tension and float into a state of peace.

In Yin yoga there is no “trying”, no effort, the room is not heated and each posture is “resting”, held for 1 to 5 mins. This slow pace promotes balance in the body by allowing our deep connective tissues, fascia, to stretch.

Fascia covers everything in the body. It holds us together. Yin yoga helps blocked energy flow through the fascia again. Stress stored in the body is released allowing for a state of ease to permeate to a deeper level. It’s the perfect complement to Yang yoga or any “exercise”, including our busy lives.

You’ll leave this workshop ready for bed and in a heavenly state of bliss. 🫠

We’re really excited to welcome Yusef Thomas to the Blue Yoga teaching team! Yusef received his yoga teacher certification in 2008 and has been active in the Detroit yoga community since before that. Join Yusef for, Power Yoga, Wednesdays at 6:00 pm beginning this week.

Power Yoga is a dynamic and guided series of postures incorporating Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Slow Burn styles to create an immersive flow. Vibrant music and deep beats are linked to provide a full and intense yoga experience. All levels are welcome, but this class will challenge even the most seasoned yogi!

Yusef’s take on teaching: “Bloom where you’re planted.” The amount of reps we produce are as important as the quality. To Yusef the student comes first. Before ego or will, his goal is to create space for each person’s practice and hold the vibe for you. He’s really committed and engaged with his own practice, and it comes through in the craft of his classes. Yusef is married with kids.

This is HOW. How do we move through doubt and blocks to manifest our dreams, big and small? Join Life Coach, Laurie Greenberg, and Yoga Teacher, Kelly Frank, for a 2 hr. workshop to learn the steps of bringing to life what you want—the easy way, with the flow of life. This workshop will help you get clear about what you really want. You’ll complete a short pre-class questionnaire. Beginning with a 45 min. yoga practice to get present and open, Kelly will guide the group through a visualization from Savasana, a state unbound by fear. Each participant will receive a journal to write notes about their vision. Laurie will deconstruct the process of manifesting and the most common ways we get stuck, followed by a discussion and Q&A. So…What is your biggest dream? The one you’ve told yourself is ‘too big, it’s not possible?!?’ What’s your highest vision for your life? Learn the power of directing your mind and thoughts to focus on what you want, explore using your imagination, and let go… to dream bigger!
