We are offering a Lifeguard Recertification Class on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 8am-6pm at BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center.

Do you know a lifeguard who needs to be re-certified? Tag them on this post!

This class will refresh your lifeguard knowledge and skills and update your certification for another two years. You must have a current AMERICAN RED CROSS lifeguard certification or certification expired by no more than 30 days to participate. This class does not recertify for other lifeguard agencies. If you were not originally certified by Bismarck Parks and Recreation District, then proof of certification will be required before the class begins.

Successful completion of the course certifies you in Lifeguarding (including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid that is valid for two years. The class fee is $150.

Want to lift weights, but don't know where to start? Join one of our Weight Room Basics classes at BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center!

The first Weight Room Basics class this year is coming up on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10-11am.

A certified personal trainer will guide you through each cardio and weight machine to learn what each one does and what muscle group you’ll strengthen. You’ll get a personalized exercise log card for you to keep notes and to record your future workouts. That way you can keep track of machines, weights and your progress.

You’ll leave class with confidence that you know how to have a safe and effective workout in the weight room. How uplifting! 🏋️‍♀️😎

The splash pad at New Generations Park will be open at least through next Sunday, Sept. 15. The splash pad is free and is open from 10am-8pm daily. With temps in the 80s (and even likely in the 90s tomorrow), this will be a great week to take the kids to cool off and splash around this fun park! ☀

Join us for a magical evening at our FREE Luminary Walk and Pumpkin Carving Contest on Saturday, Sept. 28 at General Sibley Park & Campground! 🎃✨

Show off your pumpkin carving skills, then take a stroll through an enchanting lit path. Hot cider and snacks provided. Flashlights encouraged. This walk is dog-friendly.

Drop off your already carved pumpkin at picnic shelter #1 from 2-5pm and complete an entry form for each of your carved pumpkins. Luminary Walk attendees will vote for their favorites from 7-8:45 pm, and prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Winning pumpkins will also be featured on Bismarck Parks and Recreation District social media. Voting for the contest will end at 8:45pm, at which time participants can collect their pumpkins if they wish to take them home. Winners will be notified Sunday, Sept. 29, and prizes can be collected the following business week at the Bismarck Parks and Recreation District office at 400 E. Front Ave. between 7:30am-5pm.
