It's Cow Appreciation Day! North Dakota is home to 1.6 million beef cattle and calves and approximately 10,000 dairy cows. Cows provide us with so many things - including dairy products and meat; leather goods; medicines such as iron and insulin; tennis racket and musical instrument strings; candles; crayons; soaps; paint brushes; gelatin and more!

Today is National Bean Day! North Dakota is a leader in dry bean production. We are the top-producing state of all dry edible beans and pinto beans, the #2 producer of pink and small red beans and the #3 producer of black and navy beans!
