The U.S. National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) will be accepting applications for the Digital Equity Competitive Grant from August 14 until September 23, 2024. Award amounts range from $5M to $12M and are intended to fund projects that will support efforts to achieve digital equity, promote digital inclusion activities, and spur greater adoption and meaningful use of broadband among Covered Populations.

N.D. CIO Greg Hoffman Takes a Whole-of-State Approach to IT The state's new CIO has worked with the North Dakota Information Technology department for nearly 20 years. Now, the relationships he has built will support and inform the implementation of his vision for IT.

We are excited to announce that Gov. Doug Burgum has appointed Greg Hoffman to lead North Dakota Information Technology as chief information officer (CIO), effective immediately. This appointment is based on his strong leadership experience and deep knowledge of the agency's vital role in state government.

Greg has been serving as interim CIO since June 1, 2024. He was appointed deputy CIO in April 2022 and has previously led the agency's Administrative Services Division since 2014. He joined NDIT in 2005 as its first budget/rate analyst.

NTIA has formally approved North Dakota’s Digital Equity Plan. Aimed at addressing disparities in digital access, skills, and affordability across the state, the Digital Equity Plan details how the State will begin to address the digital divide in North Dakota.

NTIA has formally approved Volume I of North Dakota’s Initial Proposal l for the BEAD program. This approval precedes the state-wide BEAD Challenge Process to challenge data from the FCC National Broadband Map and further validate broadband needs in the state. Prior to the beginning of the Challenge Process, which will be announced in the coming days, eligible challengers (nonprofit organizations, units of local and tribal governments, and broadband service providers) can register for access and review locations through the North Dakota BEAD Challenge Portal. The State Broadband Program Office will review and adjudicate evidence, with final determinations expected to be submitted to the NTIA in the summer.
