With rain in the forecast, Westwood's Field Day is being moved from Friday, May 24th to *Tuesday, May 28th!*

If you signed up to volunteer on Friday, look for a follow-up email from Mr. Petersen checking on your availability to volunteer on Tuesday.

The forecast for Tuesday is fantastic, and we are excited to celebrate Field Day with our students! Thank you for your understanding.

Check it out! A couple of our Wildcats got a Bloomington Police ride to school today - they won the raffle drawing at Westwood Elementary PTA's Bingo night last month! Super cool!

What are you doing on May 17th? Join Westwood Families at the Westwood Elementary PTA's sponsored event: Worldwide Westwood! It's a multicultural event to celebrate our school's diversity: a night where we celebrate and honor different cultures, languages, and traditions.

It's ThinkCS! in Bloomington Public Schools...Computer Science is for everyone! During April and May, students learn computational thinking skills while creating projects. This year's theme is Game On!

Here are some kindergarteners in Mrs. Johnson's class learning about algorithms as they play "Snakes and Ladders"!

Did you know we have a school newscast? KDWW airs on Mondays for Westwood classrooms to watch. It's led by 5th graders on 6-week rotations. They work with Mrs. MacPhail, our Digital Learning Specialist, and learn journalism skills such as interviewing, reading a teleprompter, and being professional and responsible while representing their school. And they do an amazing job! You can stream any newscasts on demand by visiting our KDWW website.

Bloomington Public Schools 2024 Food Drive in support of Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People (VEAP) in Bloomington, is coming up soon April 15-19, 2024. Westwood Elementary is teaming up again with Planet Fitness to help people in need by collecting essential items and monetary donations. We invite you to join us in support of this great cause.

In the fall, Westwood students had a fundraiser and their amazing efforts led to the purchase of a Gaga Ball pit, thanks to our PTA!
