Dark Day. Good Friday.

Matthew 27:45-56
When is anything that feels so dark good? That is the setting that we have in Matthew 27:45-56. Jesus had been betrayed, falsely accused, and abandoned by His close friends. And yet, everything He endured served a purpose. But it looked so dark.

As we embark on the significance of this day, it is important that we remember the agony Jesus faced so that this day could be a Good Friday. Good Friday was not about a "feel good, only good vibes" type of day. On this day, Jesus manifested what a life completely surrendered looked like.

Jesus lived outside His comfort so that others could be comforted. His decision to surrender His life at the cross made the way so that we could have complete access to the very throne of God. The way He died was dark, the life we have because of His death is SO good.

As we look at the price Jesus paid on this day, let us be thankful and let us fully surrender to His love. It was His surrender that brought us life. The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.
This is the Good News.
