Happy World Turtle Day 2024! Turtles have fascinating eyes! Unlike humans and fish, turtles need to be able to see clearly both underwater and out of water. They're able to do that because they have flat corneas and spherical lenses, which allow them to have perfect vision underwater and see quite well out of water. Turtles also have an even distribution of rods and cones, making their eyes best adapted for bright light. Additionally, their eye muscles operate in a really special way, coordinating the direction of pull to keep their eyes in focus even when their peripheral vision is obstructed by their shells. So, turtle eyes are pretty amazing in how they're able to adapt to different environments! 🐢👀👓

Earth Day falls on the 22nd day of April each year. But for our practice, every day is Earth Day! Here are some eyewear tips to keep our earth clean from land to sea:
- If you still love your frames but need a new prescription, reduce by only replacing the lenses.
- When you are ready for new frames, show support to manage eyewear costs for others and allow the reuse of your old frames through donation.
- Try not to throw old frames or used contact lenses in the trash bin! Recycle responsibly by searching for a collection location near you.
