Another fun Stargazer build out the door, the purple Klampers and titanium Pannier Rack add some bling to our standard build spec, the customer also opted for a leather Selle Anatomica saddle. Even our taller customers are able to get the bars level with their saddle on a Stargazer, it’s really made for comfort on long days on the bike.

I’ll be wandering around Frankfurt next month for the Eurobike show, say hi if you see me there, I’ll be meeting with some of our international dealers and chatting with shops interested in stocking our products.

Current iteration of my titanium XL Stargazer rain bike. Shimano GRX drivetrain with 36t chainring and XTR rotors, Ultra violet king headset, SKS fenders with Teravail Sparwood tires on 30mm Derby rims, SON 28 dynamo with DT350 rear, polished 57cm Big Dipper bars, silver Thomson stem and seatpost and a Brooks B17 saddle. This is actually a prototype frame with slight geometry tweaks. The Stargazer (steel or titanium) is such a versatile bike, this is probably the 5th build variation I’ve tried, it’s a great bike for tinkerers.

We have a small handful of 355mm pannier racks restocked on the webstore, more coming in a few weeks.

This beautiful bone Stargazer went out recently, the customer asked for headset and bottom bracket, as well as a T rack and a dynamo hub. For this build we used a Ritchey Venturemax bar in 52cm. We won’t be getting any more bone frames, so if you’ve been thinking about one don’t wait!

Here’s an interesting build out the door, it’s an XL Stargazer in Midnight in our standard build plus some 27.5x3” Oxbow tires, a chainring and some Swiss Stop pads. We don’t do very many Stargazers with 27.5+ tires, but this thing is a ton of fun!

This medium Sage Prospector is headed out to its new owner, it’s a 29+ build with our Pannier racks front and rear along with a dropper post and Sinewave Beacon for light and charging. We custom build each bike to suit the customer’s needs, so reach out if you’re looking for something specific!

We are way behind on posting the next batch of customer builds, so we will be getting a bunch out in the next few weeks as inspiration for your own bike. We just sent out this bone Stargazer with a Shimano GRX drivetrain, DT 350 and SON28 dynamo wheelset on Derby carbon rims, front and rear racks and a full light and usb charger package.

Our current lead times are starting to push back longer as the riding season picks up, but we can get you set up if you have a trip planned for this spring/summer! We are also running low on Persuader bars and some rack variants already, but we have some set aside specifically for complete builds.

Here’s one of a pair of Prospectors that we just sent out, it’s a large Midnight with 29+ wheels rolling on a set of and drivetrain. The customer opted for 4 piston Shimano XT hydraulic brakes, and we fitted the bike with a set of our Persuader bars, a Tumbleweed chainring as well as one of our updated Pannier Racks. We have been sending out lots of our new racks, every version is still on hand, but we won’t be getting our next shipment until summer, so don’t wait too long!

We are launching all new updated racks today, they are in stock and shipping now. We’ve made several updates to both our T and Pannier racks, but the one that seems to have caught the most attention is our titanium Pannier Rack. These definitely won’t be for everyone, but I love mine and want one on my other bikes now. With this rack there’s almost no weight penalty to have a fully capable touring rack on your everyday bike. At its price point it’s hard to make a strict value proposition, especially considering how great our steel racks are, but I dare you to see one in person and not say Wow! These racks ship with matching (pretty close) silver hardware.

We are excited to introduce Jason Boucher as the most recent addition to our team at Tumbleweed. For those of you that have been in the bike industry for a while, Jason is not a new face. He’s been involved with brands in the bikepacking world for over two decades, most notably as the person behind and other brands at QBP. We are thrilled to have him on board helping us behind the scenes with a variety of roles including strategic planning and business operations, as well as helping to coordinate our growing dealer network. Welcome aboard Jason!

Another one of our new Midnight Stargazers is out the door, with a wide range Shimano 12 speed GRX drivetrain and brakes, hand built DT Swiss wheels and some flashy bar tape! The Stargazer is such a sweet riding bike, it’s as fancy a steel touring frame as can be made. Multi-butted size specific tubing, internal integrated gussets and a balanced upright geometry make it a fan favorite for a reason!

We’ve been getting a lot of emails regarding our rack inventory. We will be restocked in about a month with all varieties plus some new surprises. You can’t go wrong with our standard Stargazer build spec, it’s ready to go anywhere straight out of the box. There’s plenty of room to customize or upgrade, but we always tell people that our standard build isn’t a “base spec”, it’s a solid combination of high quality and functional parts that make sense, don’t cut corners and work great. With in-house hand built DT350 wheels, Big Dipper bar, dropper post and a wide range SRAM Rival/GX drivetrain, just add some bags and go! This build just got shipped out to its new owner.

Here is our latest titanium Stargazer build, this one has a Shimano GRX 12 speed drivetrain, front and rear Mini Pannier racks, a set of wheels and some Big Dipper bars. We have a couple these frames left in each size except for medium, and we are selling them as framesets or complete bikes. These are super premium framesets and we are only doing one small batch per year.

This beautiful Bone Stargazer just went out the door with one of our custom framebags, Big Dipper bar, hand built DT Swiss wheels, and a SRAM hydraulic brake upgrade. Get your Bone or Starry Night frame or complete bike before the color is gone!

We are excited to launch our new Stargazer color, we call it Midnight Sparkle. It’s the same midnight blue from the Prospector with a sparkly gold treatment. We have these in stock now as framesets or for complete builds. The original Bone and Starry Night colors won’t be coming back, so when they are gone they are gone!

We just sent out this beautiful fully equipped Prospector (large midnight blue). The new owner went all out with the spec, including front and rear Tumbleweed racks with front and rear dynamo lights, Paul Klampers, Love Levers and quick release, King headset, full coverage fenders, Thomson dropper, Persuader bar and some Ergon biocork grips. This bike is ready to go anywhere!

Thanks to everyone who has ordered a set of Big Dipper bars! We’ve been asked quite a lot if we are having a Black Friday sale, and just like every year since we started we are not having a sale. We offer top notch products at a solid value year round, feel free to place an order any time you need something. We may have a close out on certain colors or variants of products as needed, but we don’t generally have seasonal sales. We will however be launching a couple more products in the next week or two, so look out for those!

A very limited number of titanium Stargazer frames are up on the webstore. We just finished our first extra medium build and have a few more in the queue. If you’d like us to build you a complete bike, leave us a note in your order. We are offering both SRAM Rival/GX and Shimano GRX drivetrains with our hand built DT Swiss wheels, as well as custom builds to spec.

We are excited to announce our first drop bar, the Big Dipper! It’s been a long time coming and we are excited to finally release it into the wild. It was designed as the companion bar to our Stargazer model and it went through several iterations and a couple years of development. It comes in three widths, 51cm, 54cm and 57cm at the hoods, and features a short reach and shallow drop. There is a gentle 5 degree backsweep on the top of the bar and it’s rated for off road use via ISO 4210 strength/fatigue testing. We used triple butted heat treated 7000 series aluminum for this bar, it’s genuinely top notch!

We just got in several of the new Shimano 12 speed GRX groups, and this is the first Stargazer (XL Starry Night) that we are sending out with one. It’s a great match for the Stargazer for those that prefer the feel of Shimano drivetrains and brakes, plus you can finally get a drop bar 1x drivetrain with a 10-51 tooth gear range from the brand. The left lever controls the dropper post just like our SRAM builds. The GRX standard build is a few hundred dollars more in price over our standard spec, and it’s a really nice overall package.

We sent out this large sage Prospector a little while back, and it’s a real beaut. 29x2.6” tires with hand built Rohloff/Son28 hubs and polished Velocity rims, silver Paul seatpost and Love Lovers, polished White Industries headset, and a special polished Persuader bar (these aren’t for sale or in production, but we’ve been known to put special goodies on complete builds.)

Our favorite panniers from are here with the very very last of our custom Tumblerust fabric, we only have around 10 sets left! We commissioned this fabric back when was making our bags, and we’ve sold lots of framebags with it. Rockgeist had a tiny bit of it left in their shop and we had them use every last scrap to make this final run of panniers. Link in our story.
