Cutting Edge Bullets

It's been a long time coming, but we finally have solid BC number on some of our most popular MAXIMUS hunting bullets.
Yesterday we completed testing with the Oehler 89 BC Chronograph. We were extremely impressed with the Ballistic Coefficient Standard Deviation number on these bullets which is a measure of how much the BC number varies from shot to shot. This number greatly impacts vertical dispersion. This is why a higher BC number is not always better. Our LAZER line is a prime example of this. While our MTH/MTAC line has a higher BC than the Lazer, the LAZER line has a lower BC SD. This is why more Extreme Long Range competitors are using our LAZER line than MTH/MTAC line.

We're hoping to get out to the range at least once every couple of weeks to fill in the missing BC data we need. The smoke here is Idaho had been a hinderance, but we are hopeful it will clear out soon!

The #1 inquiry we receive pertains to load data.

Although our projo's are solid copper and feature unique characteristics, they are actually incredibly easy to load.

The easiest, most effective way to get load data is to use any reputable lead core bullet manufacturers' loading manual (Hornady, Sierra, Nosler, etc), find a bullet with a similar weight, and start 5% lower than the max charge listed.

If you are using a standard version of our projo's (the word MAX is not in the name), we recommend starting with a powder between the fastest and slowest burning powder listed. This ensures you will have adequate case capcity.

If you are using a single feed (.ie. "MAX") version of our projo's, we recommend using a medium to slower burning powder in order to fill your case capacity.

For those of you wondering why we don't publish a loading manual, know that we are always working towards that goal. We have load data in house that we have been compiling over the years. Considering there are over 200 different rifle cartridges out there and our catalog is now at 382 different projectiles, we do not have data for every cartridge/projo combination (yet!).

Just a heads up! If you want to use different brass than what is supplied with our 22's, they may fit a bit loose. We discovered this after measuring other manufacturers' brass and realizing the diameter of the case mouth is a bit larger than that of the brass we supply with our 22's.
We're not sure if this difference would impact performance, so if anyone has used other brass, let us know who's it was and how it went!
