The Summer Solstice marks the first day of Summer, when the sun reaches the highest point in the sky making it is the longest day with the shortest night of the year. People from around the world celebrate midsummer with outdoor feasts and festivities including singing, dancing, musical performances, and certain traditions. Many rituals arose from the belief that Midsummer was a magical time of good fortune and healing. Watching the sun rise or the set is considered significant in many cultures and astrological events like the recent solar flares and eclipse bring people together to enjoy these magnificent occurrences involving both the sun and the moon.
Spiritually speaking this is a time to honor and pay homage to the sun as the source of life and sustenance. The summer solstice marks the beginning of a new agricultural cycle. It symbolises the renewal of life and the start of a new phase of abundance and growth.
Join us for a solstice celebration with music, wine, food and friends to kick start one of the best seasons of the year. Michael of Barrique will be pouring a tasty line up of French wines while Greg Martinez, Tim Foster and several friends will be playing cool music as you sip the night away!!
