The Mindful Messenger
Mindful, compassionate, strengths-based counseling for those who wish to find hope through healing. I have 15 years of clinical experience.
My name is Marissa Nickel, and I own a private therapy practice. As a licensed clinical social worker, my philosophy is simple - I support those willing to self-improve in becoming who they most desire through the use of empathy, validation, compassion, and psycho-education. I rely on a strengths-based, mindful approach to client care and believe that progress made in therapy will be based largely
Let them lose you, as you learn the value in YOU choosing you. 💜🫶🏼
Consideration is one of the highest forms of love. 💜
They’re here! I’m beeing kindly excited, obviously awkward, and I can’t hardly wait to start spreading the love like glitter 🐝✨🫶🏼
I never planned on being in the spotlight for anything in my life; I actually prefer to hide out socially, only to be seen intimately emotionally. I’m complicated, I know. But now that I’m a few years deep on this unexpected side quest journey, Marissa as the “be kind” social media therapist is a pretty amazing gig. If my legacy is one of an empathic soul who spread love, kindness, acceptance, and compassion, that’s a lived experience that I can be proud of.
Thank you, all, for the continuously inspiring swag. I appreciate the support! And I’m loving the hype around the phrase - we need love now more than ever before.
Bee kind. 💜🫶🏼 🐝
Today, someone is going to take the challenging step of contacting a therapist to seek help. A call that will result in breaking a cycle of pain and dysfunction for the family members behind them. And that is what bravery looks like. ❤️
Wherever you go, leave a heart print… 💜
Choose you. Choose peace. 🫶🏼
Especially at the start of therapy, this is a reminder clients need to hear repeatedly. An important one, too. Once you realize you’re safe and that you can set it all down, the exhaustion is very real.
Wherever you’re at in your healing journey, be gentle with yourself. 🫶🏼
Holidays like these hold so many different meanings; everyone has a unique story. This weekend we’re holding space for all. Be kind, and don’t judge. 🫶🏼🤍
Hey! A good reminder. In case you needed to hear this today, too. 🫶🏼
Strive to be this type of cool. I believe in you. 🫶🏼
It’s amazing how much good you can do when you don’t care who gets the credit... ❤️
🌈 Happy Pride Month, friends! This therapist loves and supports everyone.
If you are a person of the LGBTQIA+ community, please know you’ll always be safe, seen, respected, accepted, and loved here.
Thank you for being alive - I appreciate you. 🏳️🌈
There is only one person you will spend your entire life with, and that’s yourself. From the first to last breath. So be sure to love that individual wholly, fully, and genuinely, always. 💜
I encourage my clients to create a safe haven where and how they can. Here is mine.
My favorite spot at the best time of day; the only place that knows me wholly. I’ve spent half of my life out here. Laughing, loving, crying, pleading, playing, praying, celebrating, growing, and everything and anything in between. I’ll miss it when I have to say goodbye, but I’m so grateful for a sanctuary that my son has gotten to experience, too. 🖤🫶🏼
Heavy on the peace as we age. ✌🏻 🖤🫶🏼
Letting go of relationships that have become unhealthy can break your heart. But conversely, attachment to something that's no longer meant for you can also be very painful. We fight to hold on, and we fight to let go. I found peace in this process when I realized that there is a divine purpose for every person in my story, no matter how long they stay. Practice gratitude, loving kindness, and compassion - for all. ❤️
“Why can’t you see me? Why can’t I stop needing you to see me?”
Such a simple quote, but one that resonates deeply for people who have been overlooked, misunderstood, abandoned, rejected, betrayed, unloved.
Some things in life you just never get over. You learn to live with them, hence, acceptance. Living grief is very real, and that is when we mourn the loss of someone or something that is gone, but not to death. Be gentle with yourself if you’re in the throes of healing a wounded heart. ❤️🩹🫶🏼
This idea is preposterous, outdated, and sad. It’s also from a victim shaming mentality. Instead of asking how someone could dare walk away from abuse because it happened at the hands of “family,” let’s instead start asking why family members are being abusive? That’s really the only appropriate question.
Abuse is never something anyone should have to endure. It’s okay to walk away, and it’s not selfish to choose you. 🖤
Some people will never support you just because you’re you. Others will always support you because you’re you. Know the difference, and live your life accordingly. 🖤🫶🏼
Sometimes you have to make a decision that will hurt your heart but that will heal your soul. ❤️
Mother’s Day, a day with different meanings for all of us. Sending love to everyone in whatever life circumstance. 🩷🫶🏼
An important reminder for everyone this weekend. Be kind. Be graceful. Be respectful. Sending love to all 🖤
Loud and proud. Authentically so. Lead with love, and protect your peace. 🖤🫶🏼
You can be the kindest person in the world, and some people still won’t like you. It’s not their job to love you; it’s yours. 🩷
Being a kind person should never be measured by how much one has to endure at the expense of suffering through maltreatment from others. Remember that. Sometimes the kindest thing we can do (when it’s an option), is to say “no more” and then walk away. 🩷🫶🏼
Lead with love. 🩷🫶🏼
Lately in my practice, I find myself working with many clients who are unpacking years of trauma and pain. Particularly within family systems. This is an important reminder for those who may be labeled the “black sheep” or who were the scapegoat. You’re a cycle breaker, which is brave; but you’re not the person who broke up the family. You broke the cycle, and that’s different. Remember that. It’s lonely to step away, but it won’t always hurt so deeply. Keep choosing peace. 🩷
These are highly important concepts for us to understand. Take time to learn, grow, and potentially change accordingly. We need more LOVE. 🩷
An important reminder on this Sunday. Strive instead to be kind, to love deeply, to be compassionate, to value connection AND peace. Lead your life with your heart. 🩷🫶🏼
