Ended the Balkans Dialogue with some beautiful scenes from Montenegro and Albania!
The ruins of a castle in Boston...not that Boston, Boston Ireland
Pictures from Sarajevo, Mostar, and Trebinje in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The nature of these cities is lush, with beautiful rivers.
More pictures from the Balkans Dialogue, from Belgrade, Serbia, and Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The pictures are from religious cites, meetings with polictians, and local life. Our times here give us a deeper understanding of how ethnic relations and historical legacies shape the current state of the region.
Students were taken to a beach to create group installations based on found materials in the environment including rocks, shells, and seaweed.
A trip to Poulnabrone Dolmen as well as other tombs was made to enhance the study of Pre-Celtic Ireland.
An overnight trip to the Aran Islands allowed for views of O’Brien’s Castle on Inis Oírr (Inisheer). Students were also able to explore the Island and look more closely at the ruins.
A beautiful sunset was seen over the Burren after students had the pleasure of listening to storyteller Eddie Lenihan.
Students hiking up hill to see Cahercommaun. Students in the Art Explorations in Ireland DOC go on hikes to experience the history they learn about in person.
One distinctive feature of the Burren is the limestone formations that are plentiful in the area. Students are given the chance to hike along them and even complete some art projects based on the texture of the rocks.
Students were given time to walk around the Cliffs of Moher and take in the beauty of the natural landscape.
One striking place the students visited was the Cliffs of Moher
Students were taken to see a ringfort made of stacked limestone that overlooked the area.
In Ballyvaughan there is an abundance of animals to observe from cows and sheep to horses and donkeys.
Scenes from Belgrade, Serbia.
These pictures were captured on the first few days of the Dialogue of Civilizations based in the Balkan region, southeastern Europe. We are currently attending lectures at the University of Belgrade, on topics ranging from sustainability to economics.
Serbia, alongside other countries in the region, emerged from the breakup of Yugoslavia in the early 90’s. Belgrade’s brutalist architecture and vibrant social scene gives the city its character.
Stayed in Florence for the last few days of our amazing trip and explored some more of Tuscany! ☀️💛
