Jan became her daughter's caregiver when Nikki turned 18. They had been through years of struggles including crippling symptoms, pain, and unsuccessful surgeries.
Throughout their caregiving journey, Jan and Nikki brought in external help and a community of support, including Careforth.
“I’m still doing the same things I’ve been doing to help Nikki, but now I do it with support, understanding, and financial assistance," Jan says. "With Careforth, there is somebody always there, just a call away. That means a lot."

On this National Disability Independence Day, we're honored to share the story of Dan and his family. Dan lives with his caregiver and uncle, Bruce, and his guardian and aunt, Kerry. The family's relationship with Careforth began 16 years ago.

When Tiffany’s mom suffered a stroke, she moved in to take care of her. Since then, she’s become the primary caregiver for both her parents, Georgia and David.
Tiffany’s story is one of love, compassion, and dedication. As Careforth Care Manager Macaria Wilson describes, “Tiffany’s love is a verb. It’s an action because it is woven into every appointment she schedules, every meal she prepares, all the laundry she folds, and each little interaction she has with her loved ones.”
