Karate RX
Karate training facility that aims to create the strongest martial artists both physically and menta
🎄Merry Christmas everybody!!! 🎄
Thank you all for being a part of the Karate RX community. Stronger martial arts wouldn’t be possible without every single one of you!
Enjoy your holiday break and we’ll see you on the mat again soon!
Last Saturday Karate RX had belt testing without Coach Sean! 😱 (I was sick)
Coach Lauren and Coach Yena stepped up and tested students for their Orange Belt and Green Belt promotions.
I’m so proud, happy and excited for not only all our students who earned their new belts - but also Coach Lauren and how she has grown into such a strong, caring and capable leader.
Congratulations everyone. I know how hard all of you worked to prepare for this test and I’m sorry I couldn’t be there. ~ Coach Sean
Hoodies are HERE!
Boy do they look good! If you preordered one we will be giving them to you or your student when they come to class!
(If you sent us a note that it’s for Christmas we will smuggle it to you!)
If you didn’t pre-order but would like to buy one, comment what size and if we have any extra we will hold it for you!
Please help us in wishing Coach Emma a happy birthday today! 🥳
We hope you have a great day today Coach Emma!
Also, check out this costume made from scratch! I was very scared.
This Saturday at 2pm Reese will be taking a 3 hour test to earn her black belt.
She has been working hard for over 5 years to reach this milestone that most do not. We would love for our students to be here to cheer her on and see what a black belt test looks like!
A few HOCO pics of some of our students.
Scroll ➡️ to see Coach Landon and Coach Emma! 😊
Our student spotlight tonight is Simon Shivers.
Simon passed his purple belt test last Saturday after 3 failed tests prior. He spent almost 10 months working towards earning his purple belt.
It is commendable for students to prepare and pass tests. It is a different kind of perseverance to not give up and keep working toward a goal when it seems like you’ll never reach it.
All of us are so proud of Simon for not giving up and all of the extra work he put into meeting the requirements for this test.
I’m also very grateful for his parents and grandparents who kept bringing him to class on the days he didn’t feel like coming and for trusting us with their little boy.
Yesterday was a great day of testing for a handful of our students!
I’m very proud of how knowledgeable everyone is with their test material and the energetic focus displayed yesterday.
I don’t have any pics of our yellow and orange belt testers so feel free to send me some! 😬
This week we are spotlighting Coach Landon!
Landon is one of our founding members, joining with a red belt in 2018. After a lot of extra work to learn a ton of new curriculum, he is the second person to ever earn a black belt at Karate RX.
Landon now teaches classes and competes regularly. I'm very grateful to have an employee who works diligently, sets a great example for our students, and isn't afraid of new challenges.
Proud of you!
It's time for some COACH Yena appreciation!
Yena has been at KRX for almost 3 years. She started on Saturday mornings with Fitness Kickboxing. For those of you who train with her it may be hard to believe, but she was very quiet!
A few round kicks into her first class it became very apparent she had trained before. After some inquiry she revealed that she had earned a black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do when she was growing up.
She trained during the pandemic online and convinced her daughter Addie to join in as well. When we opened up for classes again she began training in our karate program with her daughter.
Everything Yena does in her life is done to the best standard possible. She earned her 2nd Degree black belt here despite her deep hatred of running. She trains more at home and puts in more preparation for her karate training than any student I have ever taught.
She started competing when we started our competition team almost two years ago. She researches tournaments and thinks of new creative movements for our forms all of the time.
Yena loves organizing social events and put together a fantastic 5 year celebration party in June for the kids and the adults.
On top of all this she teaches our youngest competition team and is preparing them for their first tournament in a few months.
Thank you for all of your hard work COACH Yena!
So proud of our competition team who competed yesterday in the GoldBar National Karate Tournament!
KRX took home a bunch of rings and more importantly everyone has improved and got more experience in the competition setting.
Let’s celebrate, rest a bit and then get back to work so we are even better at our next tournament.
Thank you everyone for 5 Years at Karate RX!
Today was a very fun day. It was amazing to see everyone having so much fun and just hanging out together.
I really appreciate all of you making KRX possible and thank you everyone who came out to celebrate this day with us!
It’s KICK WEEK!
We’re testing on our side kicks, so make sure your toes are sideways and you’re hitting with the heel! 🥋

Meet Filipe & Gabi!
They are both so fun to train with in our adult program. This father daughter duo always show up on time with a hard working attitude!
Be like these two and keep training hard! 🙂
Thank you for having me!
Arman has been preparing for this test with a lot of intention over the last few weeks.
I’m very proud to promote him to orange belt! 💪🏼
That feeling you get when you earn a new stripe. 😊
Yena recently became a coach and has been teaching bo to our Jr. Competition team!
They are all doing a phenomenal job. We’ll share some videos in a few weeks! 😁
We had a great time learning from the excellent yesterday!
I KNOW those who attended are better martial artists because of it!
From 3:30pm to 4:30pm this Saturday we will have a world champion fighter in the building to coach anyone interested in upping their sparring game.
is a phenomenal fighter, stuntman, instructor and friend of mine.
It is only $29 for KRX students so please take advantage of this if you are interested!
Here is an excerpt from an article about him published on Black Belt Mag in 2020:
"Justin "Hotfoot" Ortiz is widely considered one of the best lightweight point fighters in the world. His nickname was earned by his trademark kicking combinations that display his speed, coordination, flexibility, and accuracy when he fights. He has won world championships in every league that he has competed in, including both kickboxing and point fighting WAKO world championships. His other accolades include multiple gold medals at the Irish Open, a Diamond Ring from the Diamond Nationals, and multiple overall grand championships at NASKA world tour events.
Ortiz has expanded his professional martial arts career into kickboxing and holds an undefeated record of 2-0. He shares his extensive martial arts experience with his community as a school owner, and also works as a professional speaker and life coach."
This week we’re talking about teamwork at home!
Yesterday we asked students to name some things that their parents to do make their lives better and vice versa.
Any you want to add? My favorite was taxes.
“The Warrior is humble, knowing they cannot reach excellence alone.”
This rotation we’ll be taking a break from forms and point sparring to focus on our boxing and Muay Thai striking—with some simple self defense review.
I want to try some different and dynamic partner drills this rotation that will improve our footwork and shake things ups a bit!
I’m excited to see everyone’s striking make some significant strides over the next two months as we PIVOT away from traditional training for a bit.
(Also lots of round kicks)
Last Friday was a very successful night of belt testing.
All of you put in the work to prepare and it showed. I’m very proud to have students with such discipline and who care about their karate so much!
Mark earned his red belt last night after a very demanding test.
His kicks and flexibility have improved so much over the last few months. This has always been his weakness and to see how good they look last night brought me immense joy and pride.
Congratulations Mark!
Congratulations to all of our students who passed their belt tests last Saturday.
I’m very proud of all the hard work each of you displayed on your test.
Thank you Coach Lauren, Landon and Emma for helping the tests run so smoothly.
So proud of our Teen program for representing at the
A few of them came in tonight so we could show off our medals! 🤩
I’m so proud of everyone who competed yesterday!
By our count the studio brought home 19 medals in total yesterday. We have definitely improved over the last year and I can’t wait to see how we do next time!
Big thanks to for giving us a place to test our skills against the best! Will definitely be back for the next
PS. Bring your medals to class and send me your pictures!!!
