“Never stop learning. You can always be better at your craft!” That is the mindset of this group of instructors who pushed themselves out of their comfort zones during this week’s Advanced Instructor School. Not content with the title of instructor, this group chose to test their skills with their peers as an audience, and each of them excelled! We even had Sheriff Tony Andronas - Washington County, PA Sheriff's Office make the journey south to attend the class!

What a difference three days can make! Thank you all for a great week and the great strides that you made. It will be exciting the next time we see you in the classroom.

The 124th LE Basic had a full day of the VR simulator on Wednesday. While patrolling in the virtual world can be a challenge, it is a great way to expose the students to challenges that are difficult to simulate with role players. They will tell you that the VR simulator is challenging for many reasons, but the biggest challenge is operating in the virtual world.

We owe a great big THANK YOU to the great people at the East Bristol Church of Christ for providing treat boxes to the 124th Basic Class today! We are grateful for the continued support of the East Bristol congregation and the encouragement that they provide to the students.

The great folks from Cedar Pointe Baptist Church provided lunch for the 124th LE Basic Class (and our staff) today. The food was excellent and the friendly fellowship was even better! Thank you for the support that you provide for this class and the academy.

When the students are away, the staff will…strip and wax the floors. 😁

The 124th LE Basic has spent the last 6 days on the range. They have learned safety, fundamentals, accuracy, malfunctions, reloads, shooting on the move, low light/night shooting, CQB and invest in yourself skills.

The 124th excelled in their qualification scores with their pistols and shotguns. This class is one of if not the top scoring class as a whole we have had.

As with any range week Mother Nature reminds us we don’t have a thermostat to control the weather on the range and the class endured not all four seasons, just the downpour of the sun and plenty of heat.

Great job 124th, week 12 is now complete!!

Thank you Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources for allowing us to host “Human Tracking and Rural Operations” course this week!

This class was taught and lead by Conservation Officers from across the state. The knowledge and skills learned in this training will better our regions officers safety and ability to track a suspect or a missing loved one.

Congratulations to everyone that completed the class!!

The 62nd Dispatcher Basic School ended today with their final practical exams. These folks put in a lot of work to earn their certification, and it will pay off for their communities who will rely upon their training during a crisis.

Thank you to all of the instructors who shared their expertise and experiences with the class this week.

Well done, Class 62.

The end of a hot week on the track and two sessions of P.I.T (Precision Immobilization Technique) Training.

The officers received great training in how to safely immobilize a fleeing suspect vehicle. However, this training was more that just instruction. A host of people have been working behind the scenes to make these courses possible. These people include:

Mark Hutchinson and Blue Line Solutions - Upfitting Division, the Virginia State Police the Fairfax County Police Department Training Academy, Nathan Antrican and Walters State Community College, Josh Reynolds from Stick-It Installations, and Rick's Mobile Welding and Repair of Saltville for fabricating and repairing the bumpers on the training vehicles.

Thank you to all who continue to support this training endeavor.
