It's back to school time and this is the time of year we see kids jam pack their backpacks and head out the door.

The American Chiropractic Association posted an article citing back pain occurring earlier in life then in previous generations. One of the conclusions drawn in the article is the earlier onset of back pain may be occurring because of overweight backpacks.

When it comes to backpack safety there are a few things to keep in mind in order to set your student up for success:
1. Backpacks should be worn with two straps and the straps should be 2inches thick to distribute the weight across the shoulders.
2. The bottom of the backpack should land nearthe waistline. A backpack should not weigh more than 10% of the individual's body weight.
3. The weight thatis placed in the backpack should be dispersed evenly throughout the bag, not all stored in onecompartment.

funny enough, our family was just talking about this the other day when mason bumped his elbow on the kitchen chair. not funny at all to him, we tried to explain that its actually a nerve, not a bone that was causing that more than uncomfortable feeling. now we know!

there's always a lesson to be learned.

un-becoming. it's a thing and i love this idea of letting go of everything that isn't really you, to make room for who you were meant to be.

Summer is gorgeous in Colorado and is the best time to get outside and breathe in that fresh air - but for some of us, that can kick up our seasonal allergies right about now. The good news is, seasonal allergies also happen to be another symptom that can be helped with chiropractic care. So don't stop going outside, but come in for an adjustment instead!
