How do you rest?

It’s Sunday morning, a day I value most for rest and connection with loved ones. I’m honored to spend today with some incredible ladies at a fun horse clinic with my son’s horse Major. Major has been a dream and such a blessing to our family. Here we are waiting our turn to work the flag which is a great way to prep yourself and your horse for working with livestock. He stands so nice and calm while I pause to fuel my body with fresh cool water. Riding is rest for me. It restores my energy and reduces stress! I would love to hear all the ways you find and practice rest. Will you share with me how you rest?

Hello! I hope Christmas was restful and that the new year is off to a great start! Every year I have continuing education hours to complete for one of my many licenses. This year my Esthetics license was up! I love this graphic and the reminder to stress better. Aging is certainly part of life and from my perspective, a gift. I am fascinated by the intrinsic and extrinsic factors of aging that affect our skin and body. Thanks to The Esthepreneurial Academy for making my CE hours easy and informative. If any of these sticky notes pop out to you, I challenge you to reflect on it. Pay attention to what your skin and body have to say. Stressing better equals aging better. Upside Down

Gravity and life pulling you down?

How do you see yourself? Do you stand straight and tall?
When you look into a mirror do you see yourself as you are now, or who you want to become?

As an Esthetician, I see most of my clients upside down. Shining the light of the magnifying lamp above their face and positioning the table and drapes comfortably. I assure you my best work starts with the décolleté, moves up the neck, and towards the jawline with my hands in motion. I skillfully move to the cheeks, then around the mouth and nose. Even the temples, the brow bone, and finally the forehead into the hairline, get the upward stroke of the palm of my hands and fingertips. I move back down behind the neck, stopping at the shoulders. Lingering with more pressure where I find tension deeper in the muscles. When I’m working with someone I might be touching the skin, but there is much more working out underneath.

Tensions of life are often showing up in the skin and body. They are etched onto the face. Anxieties bringing our shoulders upward towards our ears and clenching pain into the jawline. It is no wonder when life is moving at a frenetic speed. The hurry and usual pace of life can leave you feeling frayed and unsure or even feeling upside down. Etching the tension into your very soul.

You might have learned to take time to look down at where you are. To really be where you are and to practice presence or gratitude. Maybe this is a new idea for you. To pause. To breathe. To feel. To look yourself in the eye when you see your reflection in the mirror. So often we are stuck in the past or worrying over the future. Striving, moving, doing, and busying ourselves with the next thing. Moving into and out of comparison, thinking traps, and joyless moments.

Where ever you are today, I hope you can find a soul felt reprieve. Stand tall and see yourself. See all that you have done, are doing, and might one day do. Notice gravity anchoring you down and see yourself as you are, as well as who you are becoming.

Do you see yourself? Be yourself.
You reflect something greater than you can imagine! Be Treasured.

Treasured

Do you feel it? The beauty inside you? The potential?
The beat of your heart is reminding you that each moment is precious.
There is a gift in daily life. It’s life giving.

Sometimes, you can feel it with a gentle touch, or smell it in the air, hear it in the tone of voice of a loved one calling your name. It’s in the taste of our favorite yummy food we eat, or in our line of sight when we see the good around us.

What happens when I feel out of touch with the life giving part of myself?
I run, I hurry, I distract, I complain, I over-indulge, and I cope with those behaviors I swear I will never do again. I hurt, or worse, I hurt others with my words or my actions. Ouch.

I love being in touch with optimism, hopefulness, and gratitude.
But sometimes, I just don’t have access.
On those days, I have to sit in the feels and stop trying to figure things out.

Meet Treasure.

He is a sweet, redheaded, loving yet stubborn horse and the best friend to me. Thank God, I have had the honor of knowing Treasure for almost his whole life. He has been an inspiration to me and part of what drove me to become an entrepreneur of my own dreams. Pursuing a career where I can help others experience, feel, and care for themselves well.

When I was little, I told him all the dirty little secrets I wouldn’t tell anyone else while he munched away on his daily feed. Guess, what?! He was there for it! When I got older, I got married, and had a family of my own. His physical presence was still calming to my soul. His ears flickering back and forth, his warm breath on my face, his heart beat under my fingertips as I brushed every red and white fleck of hair. Noticing all the life giving signs through time spent with him.

I ask again, do you feel it?
When the beat of your own heart doesn’t get through to you that life is worth living, let the beat of another be the voice of reason. Be Treasured.

The Full Circle Women’s conference was informative, fun, and inspiring! I loved getting to meet with some incredible women!

Is your internal attitude & response to the moment in alignment with what you project outward?
Personally, When things are going smoothly and I feel rested, my attitude is joyful, upbeat, and positive. When I face circumstances or changes constantly moment to moment, I tend to become frustrated or fearful and overwhelmed. But its not in my nature to show that transparently to others. My hope is to be someone who operates with a calm and joyful demeanor inwardly and outwardly no matter the circumstances and welcome life challenges as a teacher.
