On Saturday, TriStar Health participated in the sixth annual "Crush the Crisis" event! This year, TriStar Health facilities across Middle Tennessee collected 1,075 pounds of unused and expired prescription medication.

We're grateful for every community member who collected and properly disposed of these medications at our collection sites, ensuring they couldn't be misused in the future. By safely and anonymously dropping of your medications, you helped actively prevent potential harm to members of your community.

Today, we’re shining a spotlight on TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna and the inspiring bond between sisters Kerri Kairdolf and Rebekah Richard, who work in the women’s services department.

Kerri, a clinical nurse coordinator (CNC) on the labor and delivery/mother-baby day shift, has been with TriStar StoneCrest for over 18 years. Her sister, Rebekah, a CNC on the mother-baby night shift, joined the hospital family two years ago. Despite their different shifts, the sisters’ connection is a testament to the “Care Like Family” theme embraced by TriStar Health.

“The best part of working with my sister is that we bond over our work life, and I get to see her when I walk through the doors,” Kerri said. “We have a passion for what we are doing, and we love to work together when we can and partner in taking care of our patients.”

In a full-circle moment, Rebekah has had all five of her children at the hospital, with Kerri assisting in the delivery of four and giving them their first baths. Their relationship brings a unique dynamic to the hospital environment, enhancing the care they provide.

TriStar Health is proud to announce a significant achievement in cardiovascular care!

Our dedicated cardiovascular services team at TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center successfully performed the first electrophysiology (EP) ablation in Sumner County. This advanced procedure addresses complex heart rhythm disorders by examining and mapping the heart's electrical system to pinpoint and correct electrical "misfires."

If a patient suffers from cardiac arrhythmia, an EP study is able to determine the location of the misfire, which is then targeted and corrected through ablation. The team at TriStar Hendersonville offers right-sided ablations as part of our comprehensive cardiac care services.

This , we are excited to share the inspiring story of a young TriStar Summit patient who has battled cancer, become a new mom and starting a support group.

Erin Ackerman was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 34 weeks pregnant. Erin and her team at TriStar Summit Medical Center decided to induce because of treatments needed and eventually a tumor removal. Her daughter, Willow, was born healthy and happy.

Erin recently celebrated one year cancer-free, and she is now starting a new Breast Cancer Support group for women under 40 with one of her friends. Erin says, “Thank y’all so much for all the support and love. We are forever grateful to the entire TriStar Summit team who helped us make it through!”

This weekend, more than 60 colleagues from TriStar Health traveled to Asheville, North Carolina, to support, assist and provide relief to caregivers at HCA Healthcare affiliate Mission Hospital. As Hurricane swept through Western North Carolina this week, it brought torrential rain, widespread power outages and cell service disruptions. Through challenging days, colleagues have selflessly served their community and supported Mission Health patients without hesitation. We are proud to support our fellow HCA Healthcare colleagues as their community continues to recover. Thank you for showing up for each other.

They say flowers lift the spirit and soothe the soul. Today we're celebrating the wonderful work of two community members who help lift patients' spirits at TriStar Horizon Medical Center.

Doug Beecham and Scotty Barnhill with the Recovery Court spearhead a community service program that delivers beautiful flower bouquets. Our nurses then share those bouquets with patients, creating moments of joy with each delivery. Many patients have been moved to tears, grateful for a momentary lift in spirits.

Doug and Scotty partner with a local grocery store that donates overstocked flowers. In turn, they share these blooms with nursing home residents, patients and anyone needing some cheer. We look forward to seeing how this initiative will continue to positively impact our communities!

Colleagues at TriStar Horizon Medical Center recently celebrated a big milestone for 41-year-old stroke survivor, Joanna.

After being discharged from the inpatient rehabilitation unit, she attended a stroke support group at the hospital. Following the meeting, the team of therapists celebrated Joanna’s ability to stand and raise her arm. While it may seem like a normal task, this is a big step in recovery for many stroke patients.

TriStar Health announced a $600,000 gift to Meharry Medical College to support paid internship and scholarship opportunities over four years for graduate students in the School of Applied Computational Sciences (SACS). This investment is part of HCA Healthcare’s $10 million pledge to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs).

Meharry Medical College is one of the nation’s oldest and largest historically Black academic health science centers. In addition to a medical school, Meharry Medical College is home to a dental school, graduate school and applied computational sciences school. Founded in 2021, Meharry’s SACS offers both M.S. and Ph.D. Data Science and Biomedical Data Science degrees.

HCA Healthcare and TriStar Health have a long-standing relationship, with many Meharry students going on to practice at TriStar Health hospitals. Members of HCA Healthcare leadership have also served on Meharry’s Board of Trustees. In addition, TriStar Health hosts Meharry medical students during their third-year clerkships at TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center for family medicine and TriStar Skyline Medical Center for emergency medicine.
