Luke 1:46 - 55
46 And Mary said,
“My soul magnifies the Lord,
47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed; 49 for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. 50 And his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation.
51 He has shown strength with his arm;
he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts;
52 he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate; 53 he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. 54 He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, 55 as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring forever.”
Thank you, PS for sharing! Such a beautiful song.

The Transformative Power of Prayer
"Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know." - Jeremiah 33:3
Prayer is the heartbeat of our relationship with God—a sacred communion that spans the Old and New Testaments, revealing the transformative power of intimate dialogue with our Creator.
OT Insights:
In the Old Testament, we see prayer as a means of seeking God's guidance, protection, and provision. Psalm 145:18 declares, "The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth." This verse underscores the importance of sincerity and faithfulness in our prayers. Whether it was Abraham interceding for S***m and Gomorrah (Genesis 18), Hannah crying out for a child (1 Samuel 1), or Elijah praying for rain (1 Kings 18), these examples show how prayer can usher in God's divine intervention and blessings.
The prophet Elijah's encounter on Mount Carmel vividly illustrates the power of persistent prayer. Through his fervent intercession, God sent fire from heaven, demonstrating His supremacy over all false gods and affirming Elijah's unwavering faith (1 Kings 18:36-39).
NT Encouragement:
In the New Testament, Jesus not only modeled a life of prayer but taught His disciples the essence of prayer. In Matthew 6:9-13, known as the Lord's Prayer, Jesus outlines the foundational aspects of prayer—adoration, submission to God's will, petition for daily needs, forgiveness, and deliverance from temptation. This prayer serves as a timeless template for believers, guiding us in aligning our hearts with God's purposes.
Jesus Himself often withdrew to lonely places to pray (Luke 5:16), emphasizing the necessity of communion with the Father. His prayers in Gethsemane, where He submitted to God's will before His crucifixion, reveal the depth of intimacy and trust He had in His Father (Matthew 26:36-46).
The apostle Paul further exhorts believers to "pray continually" (1 Thessalonians 5:17), highlighting prayer as an ongoing conversation with God that strengthens our faith and deepens our dependence on Him.
Application:
As we reflect on these Old and New Testament passages, let us embrace prayer as a transformative discipline—a means of drawing closer to God, aligning our will with His, and experiencing His power and provision in our lives. Whether in times of joy or adversity, prayer invites us to cast our cares upon the Lord, knowing that He hears and answers according to His perfect wisdom and timing.
Let us, therefore, approach prayer with faith, persistence, and reverence, trusting in God's promises and seeking His guidance in all aspects of our lives. May our prayers be a fragrant offering to God, revealing our love, gratitude, and unwavering trust in Him.
WHAT DO WE RECEIVE BY PRAYER? – Cheat Sheet:
- Access to God's Presence: Prayer allows us to approach God directly (Hebrews 4:16).
- Forgiveness and Cleansing: Confession and repentance in prayer bring forgiveness and renewal (1 John 1:9).
- Strength and Peace: God provides inner strength and peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:6-7).
- Guidance and Wisdom: Prayer opens our hearts to receive God's guidance and wisdom (James 1:5).
- Comfort and Assurance: God comforts us in times of distress and assures us of His presence (Psalm 34:17-18).
- Miraculous Interventions: God responds to prayers with miracles and divine interventions (James 5:16-18).
- Spiritual Growth: Prayer deepens our relationship with God and nurtures spiritual growth (Colossians 4:2).
- Hope and Encouragement: Through prayer, we receive hope and encouragement to persevere (Romans 15:13).
- Provision and Blessings: God promises to provide for our needs and bless us abundantly (Matthew 6:8, 33).
- Empowerment for Service: Prayer equips us with power and boldness for effective service (Acts 4:31).
Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the privilege of prayer, through which we can seek Your face and experience Your presence. Help us to approach You with sincerity and faith, knowing that You hear and answer our prayers according to Your perfect will. May our lives reflect Your grace and love as we commune with You daily.
In Jesus’ name
Amen

“I'm All In"
When God Asks Us to Step Forward in Faith to Accomplish the Impossible…
Luke 1:26-38
ESV
26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”
34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. 37 For no word from God will ever fail.”
38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

Luke 1:13-23 ESV
13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14 And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, 15 for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God, 17 and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.”
18 And Zechariah said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.” 19 And the angel answered him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news. 20 And behold, you will be silent and unable to speak until the day that these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time.” 21 And the people were waiting for Zechariah, and they were wondering at his delay in the temple. 22 And when he came out, he was unable to speak to them, and they realized that he had seen a vision in the temple. And he kept making signs to them and remained mute.23 And when his time of service was ended, he went to his home.

Devotional: Freedom in America and Freedom Found in Jesus
Today, we celebrate the freedom we enjoy as citizens of America. This freedom is a cherished gift, secured through sacrifice and upheld by the principles of democracy. However, as followers of Christ, we are also called to reflect on a deeper, spiritual freedom—the freedom found in Jesus Christ.
Freedom in America:
In America, we are blessed with freedoms that many around the world long for—freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the freedom to pursue our dreams. These freedoms are enshrined in our Constitution and have been defended by generations of brave men and women. It is our responsibility to live lives that respect and honor the many sacrifices made by others to assure and maintain the freedoms bestowed upon us by God.
Scripture Reference:
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." - Galatians 5:1 (NIV)
The Apostle Paul reminds us that true freedom comes from Christ. It is not merely about earthly liberties but about being liberated from sin and its consequences. While we cherish our national freedom, let us remember that our ultimate allegiance is to Christ, who offers us eternal freedom.
Freedom Found in Jesus:
The freedom found in Jesus is profound and transformative. It is freedom from the bo***ge of sin, guilt, and shame. Through His sacrifice on the cross, Jesus reconciled us with God and granted us access to true spiritual liberty.
Scripture Reference:
"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." - John 8:36 (NIV)
Jesus Himself promises that those who follow Him will experience true freedom. This freedom is not limited by circumstances or earthly powers but transcends them, offering peace, joy, and eternal life.
Conclusion:
As we celebrate our national freedom, let us also rejoice in the freedom found in Jesus Christ. May we cherish our earthly liberties and use them to honor God and serve others. Let us also remember that our ultimate hope and freedom lie in Christ alone. May His love and grace continue to guide us as we live out our faith in a world that desperately needs the message of true freedom.
Our Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the freedoms we enjoy as citizens of this great nation. We also thank you for the freedom found in Jesus Christ, who sacrificed Himself so that we may live in eternal liberty. Help us to always remember that our true freedom is found in Him. In Jesus' name, Amen.

If I'm honest...praying is hard for me. It isn't that I don't want to talk with God...I do, but my mind is full of all the "world" stuff. My best time with God is when I simply make myself available and say, "I'm here to listen". His voice and guidance is always so much better than any question or request that I bring to the table. God doesn't want "lists"...He wants "listening".

Luke 1:5-12
ESV
5 In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah,of the division of Abijah. And he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. 6 And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord. 7 But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and both were advanced in years.
8 Now while he was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty, 9 according to the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense. 10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense. 11 And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. 12 And Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him.

Good Morning All -
I pray that all of you are managing this blistering heat we are dealing with over the last few days. That said, give yourself a break on Wednesday and join us Reedy Creek Baptist Church from 5-7pm. We will eat, study God’s Word, and pray together…and get you home at a respectable time. By mid-week I desperately need to “re-juice” my batteries and this time of fellowship always does it. I hope you will join us.
Secondly, I’ve included this week’s study notes. We are going to touch on a hot button topic this week and simply examine what God’s Word has to say on the topic. I feel it important to not shy away from challenging topics…I know Jesus didn’t. It is true that many pastors avoid such subjects, but that cannot be the underlying reason why issues that are important to God are not addressed.

God Doesn't Make Junk - Ephesians 2:10
Have you ever felt inadequate or unworthy? Perhaps there have been moments when you questioned your value or purpose. In those times, it’s crucial to remember a fundamental truth: God doesn’t make junk.
In Ephesians 2:10, the apostle Paul writes, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." This verse beautifully encapsulates God's perspective on each of us. We are not accidents or mistakes; we are intentionally created by God, designed for a specific purpose.
The word "workmanship" in Greek is "poiema," which means "work of art" or "masterpiece."
Imagine that—each one of us is God's masterpiece. Just as an artist carefully plans and crafts each brushstroke, God intricately designed every aspect of who we are—our personalities, abilities, and passions.
Yet, we often struggle to see ourselves through God's eyes. We compare ourselves to others, focusing on our flaws and imperfections. But God sees beyond our shortcomings. He sees our potential, our capacity for growth, and the unique ways He can use us to fulfill His purposes.
Remember, our worth is not based on what we do or how others perceive us. It is rooted in our identity as God's beloved children. Ephesians 1:4 reminds us that God chose us in Christ "before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him." This divine choosing speaks to our inherent worth and value in God's eyes.
As you reflect on Ephesians 2:10, consider these questions:
1. How does knowing that I am God's masterpiece impact the way I see myself and others?
2. What are some practical ways I can embrace and live out God's purpose for my life?
3. How can I encourage others to see themselves as God sees them?
Let's pray:
Heavenly Father, thank You for creating me as Your masterpiece. Help me to see myself through Your eyes and to live out the purpose You have for my life. May I embrace my identity in Christ and walk confidently in the good works You have prepared for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Remember, you are fearfully and wonderfully made by God. Embrace your uniqueness, knowing that you are precious and valued in His sight.
Wednesday’s here! That means great food, great company, a short study of His Word, and prayer. I hope you all join us.

Scripture:
Mark 10:17
As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
Romans 10:14
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”
Questions:
1. Mark – Do you chase “Jesus”. Is he your main purpose?
2. Mark – Are you clear on how you “inherit eternal life”?
3. Mark – What does the word “inherit” mean to you?
4. Mark – What was Jesus’ answer and how did the young man react?
5. Romans – Is this only a message to “Preachers” ?
6. Romans – Can you “know” God without studying Him (or being taught)?
7. Romans – Are you called to be a “Preacher” – what is the Biblical definition?
8. Both – What is our calling as individual Christians and as the Church of Christ?
