Good morning, Sahkahtay followers, Gene here. Well summers end is upon us; we only have one more week of you harbor fishing tournament. This week's youngsters requested that we have teams instead of individuals. I thought, why not sounds like it could be fun, and it was! We had 3 teams made up of pure competitiveness.
The bronze metals went to team, I'm Bigger than I Look Kian and Aiden, Nice job boys. The silver was snatched up by team, Silent but Deadly, made up of Kelvin and Corbin. Bring home the gold metal this week was team, Git-R-Done made up of Logan and Kael. Thank you all for making this a great day and fantastic fishing tournament.
As I said, one more week of our harbor fishing tournament and then all of the kiddo's head back to school. I'll be short of content to do a weekly post once that happens. Besides doing a fishing report, does anyone have ideas that you'd like to see or hear about? Let us know and we'll try to get those ideas out to you.

Good morning, Sahkahtay followers, Gene here. My gosh mother nature has a weird sense of humor. Last week 80's and this week 50 & 70's, I woke up to 49 degrees this morning. But the walleyes are hitting just about anything, day and night. the jumbos are starting to invade the shallows.
This week we only had two kid's that signed up for our Weekly Harbor Fishing Tournament. Dob's took charge of the tournament this week and led the duo to success. These too little lads are brothers and as brothers are, they were quite competitive. We had a tight race to the podium; it came down to 1/8". Kick-in Kael was the proud silver medalist, and his little brother Amazing Aiden brought home the Gold. Funny side note: it looks like these two are deathly afraid of fish. Their arms are extended, keeping those perch at a far. But grandpa told them both that extending your arms makes the fish look bigger, I think he forgot to mention that you need to extend your arms towards the camera. LOL Either way great job to the dynamic duo, thank you Dob's for running the tournament this week.
Summer is nearing its end, only three more weeks of families with kids before they go back to school. It's going to be really sad when it's quiet, no running and screaming kids. Although it also brings joy thinking about the following years when they return and seeing how they've grown. Bitter Sweat, I guess! Big thank you to all of the guests this week, thank you to all of our visitors and thank you to our wonderful staff for making everyone's experience enjoyable.

Good morning, Sahkahtay followers, Gene here. What a steamy week we've had! A few passing showers and followed by hot and humid afternoons. Great for the beach, water sports and apparently napping. So, cute, holding paw and hand, that's why we pay him the big bucks. LOL Fishing is getting better as the water temps are in the low 70's now. Otis and I took an hour and went fishing Tuesday night, no luck but the ride was worth it.
We had a Great group of Kido's this week, funny, witty and cute as little buttons. Our bronze winner was Little Cutie Kallie 2 years old, what a great job holding her own fish and being the youngest to receive a SKTBR metal. Securing silver is Tenacious Tal, nice job buddy. Bringing home the Gold Metal this week and defying all odds with one arm in a cast, The Cast Kid Calvin. Thank you, kids, parents, grandparents and other guests for making and still keeping this my favorite day of the week. Shout out to all the guests, visitors and SKTBR staff for making this as always, an Amazing week.

Good afternoon, Sahkahtay followers, Gene here. We're thankful for the guests that are staying with us this week and a group that was able to join us for our weekly Kids Fishing Tournament. This week is quite scares for Kido's, the family's that are here have little tikes, which in the upcoming years will bring plenty of joy. So, we had to look outside the box and who better to do such a task was our very own Dob's. Dob's family booked a bunch of cabins at a neighboring resort due to us being full. Non the less he imported 7 of his cousins and relatives to join us this week. We had 7 entries, and these kids didn't fall from the Dobs tree, if you know what I mean. LOL They were full of energy, polite and looking to win. Here's the contestants along with Otis, he got a haircut the prior day and still sporting a bit of an attitude. In the background is Denim Dobs running to greet a boat, even on his day off! Going to the SKTBR podium, amazing Avonelle locking down the Bronze by 1/4" of an inch. The Siver metal goes to Enthusiastic Esme, look at the intensity on her face and this week's Gold metal goes to Rock-in Rhodes. This little Man had it locked down 30 minutes into the contest and showed no fear. Pure rock star attitude! The kids were encouraged to kiss their fish before we released them, what a look from Esme and Avonelle, but Rock-in Rhodes had no hesitation and went for it.
Thanks, to all of the contestants, families and guests that played a part to make this week's tournament a success. The walleye bite is picking up during the low light hours and the perch are in deeper water along break lines. The weather is windy and warm, the forecast appears to be favorable for the beach goers and fisher people.

HERE'S THAT BIG BASS

Good morning, Sahkahtay followers, Gene here. Well, back to you with another epic week and a new record setting Kids Fishing Tournament attendance. I want to thank our great staff for making this happen; I challenged them to recruit the kiddo's and they out did them self's.
This week we had 22 kid's and all but 7 caught a fish in the Sahkahtay Harbor. These kids were energized for the word go, that little drum beating bunny doesn't have anything on this group. So, about an hour and a half before the tournament started this little man caught this 18-1/2" largemouth under the covered slips. WOW nice one buddy. We had four winners this week with a tie for the Bronze, cool cat Conner and can't keep them off Christian. The silver metal goes to jumping Jagger and bringing home the gold metal this week is overjoyed Olivia. Thank you to all of the Kids, Parents, relative's and Dob's for making this day awesome and still one of my favorites.
On to the fishing report, they are still being caught in the upper lip and the shallows during low light. A few muskies have been seen and lifted from the break lines and the perch are still being perch. I have to be honest; it's been a really weird bite this spring/summer whatever you'd like to call it. Bright side, only a couple rain drops over the last week and a half. Now watch I probably jinxed myself!
As always, we follow up the tournament with all you can eat Smore's night with double down Dob's. The king of Smore's for those that didn't know. LOL Also pictured is crazy girl Camille, chasing me down with a mouth full of smore!

Good morning, Sahkahtay followers, Gene here. Well, our weekly Kids Fishing Tournament did not disappoint us again. We had another great turn out with 13 kids and 4 of those kids caught their very, very, very first fish. I love it when a fisher person is born, big thanks to the fishing gods looking down on the little people!
It was such an exciting day; I hope I get the names correct of the Kido's that caught their first fish. Pleasent Penelope picture holding her line all by herself, other first timer is Bambam Blake, the little guy in the front roll to the left in the group photo. Moving onto the Metal Podium we have in third place, Adorable Aspyn, with mom helping out. We had yet another tie for Silver, both masterful Maisy and Jumping Jaclyn are the remaining first-time fish catchers. Amazing job girls!!! Bringing home the gold is Blazing Beckham, this little man is a fishing master, lipping his big catch of the day. Thanks to everyone big and small for taking part in our weekly event.
The bite is still challenging, the mayflies are finally finishing up their month-long hatch, what a bummer for those have endure this epic hatch. Diffidently one for the books! Now with the water temps getting over 70 degrees and the fish should be moving out a little deeper and coming up on the flats during low light hours.
We had record breaking pizza and ice cream consumption over the 4th holiday. Thanks to all of the guests, visitors and newcomers for making the past week a Great one!

Good morning and happy 4th of July, Sahkahtay followers, Gene here. Yesterday the 3rd of July we had our weekly Kids Fishing Tournament and WOW we broke our 1-year participation record. We had 15 youngsters signed up, having fun and catching fish in our harbor. A big thank you to all who enjoyed My favorite day of the week.
This week's winners, taking home the Bronze metal Elisha, toting around the Silver was Keegan and owning the 1st place step on the podium and securing the Gold is Owen. Also pictured is our very own Dob's, Otis and a tournament participant Buorn. Buorn made the picture this week with a crayfish, now normally we don't count crayfish, but the little lad made a good point the word crayfish (does have the word fish in it). Well, who am I to argue with a 7-year-old, so there he is. LOL
Thank you all for taking time to enjoy a great event. Take a moment today or during this weekend to think about what makes this holiday so special. It's not just a day off of work, but it actually has meaning. Stay safe, have fun and we'll see you when you get here!

Good evening, SahKahTay followers, Gene here. We'd like to share a couple AWESOME pictures with you. We had a brief rain shower this evening and the fishing gods gave us an awesome rainbow. Dob's was able to get a hand under it with the help of Otis. What a view and great picture of those two.
A week ago, we had some friends cook a meal for Tina and me. Tina has been spending time away caring for her mom, so she wasn't home to share it with me. Our Good friend Jan and longtime seasonal resident was kind enough to save the meal for a couple days. When the time was right, Jan heated up the meal and her and I had a wonderful date night on the porch. Yes, I shared the news of a date with Tina, and she gave me the blessing to enjoy our evening. Thank you, Jan, for heating up the meal and thank you Jan (Jan's cousin) for preparing it and thinking of Tina and me.
Stay tuned for our weekly kids fishing tournament coming up. We could break our participation record, find out the result on Thursday morning.

Good morning, Sahkahtay Followers, Gene here. Well, this week has been one not to disappoint, beautiful weather, great guests and crazy kids. What more can one ask for. LOL Our weekly Kids Fishing Tournament had a huge turnout, thank you all for participating and making it my weekly highlight. Graceful Greta took Bronze, Jumping Jameson inched his why into Silver and Awesome Alex sporting the SKTB apparel brought home Gold. Many more fish were caught, and we had one crushing line break at the dock. Thank you, kids for giving all of us a smile and big laugh.
So finally, looks like the mayflies might be done hatching, they have been on/off for 23 days! RIGHT the fishing will be getting better just in time for the big weekend and week to come.
The Gust family and friends had their annual get together and during their County Fair night a pink pig escaped and went running across the yard, just when you think you've seen it all!

Good morning, Sahkahtay followers, Gene here. We had a great fishing contest yesterday in the SKTB Harbor. We ended up handing out 4 medals to the participants. Daisy took Gold, Dayne and Jiaxi tied for Silver and Danyele brought home Bronze. As always, we finished up our Wednesdays with s'mores by the old fireplace. Dob's did a great job seeking out consumers and managed to empty a whole bag of marshmallows. A big thanks to all the kids and family's that made it a great event and evening. We're still sitting pretty heavy on the ice cream, so stop by for a cold treat or a homemade pizza.
The fishing has been challenging lately, but the weather hasn't been the best either. We did get 4-1/2" of rain during Tuesdays storm, the lake is close to 12" high from normal. Mayflies continue to emerge daily, not by big numbers but enough to mess with the fishing I imagine.

Good morning, Sahkahtay Followers Gene here. We had another amazing week with our guests. We have a few more pictures to share with you, sense the fishing contest last week. Dob's used some of his free time and took the Lund's out fishing. Jeff hooked into a couple of walleyes and Connie (not shown) hooked her life jacket, shirt and I believe her wrist-lamp. LOL, she was enjoying herself as always and Dob's was perfect for the task.
The Lawrences, long time guest invited their son, wife and grandkids for the week. What a blast we had, thank you for sharing your stories and experience's.
A big thank you to all of the families, friend's, guests and Staff for making it a great week. The Bite is slower than expected, stormy and post may-flies, but its due to pick up. Thanks to our followers, we have exceeded our Follower Goal for the summer!
P.S. I ordered to much ice cream this week, so I need help in depleting the inventory. LOL See you when you get here.

Good morning, Sahkahtay Followers, Gene here. I'm a little behind on the weekly posts and I do apologize for the delay. The bite is a little slow this past week, due to the Mayflies hatching, but fishing is looking brighter. We had our weekly fishing contest on Wednesday, congratulations to Kaylee our Gold mentalist, Brady receiving Silver, and Chloe finishing up the podium with a Bronze.
Last week we had a father and son return for their annual trip, I believe it's been 20+ years, please keep it going guys, great to see you again. We also finished up the final touches on our new patio, please come and enjoy a slice of heaven and an ice cream treat. Gene and I are so excited to share the 2024 first kids fishing tournament pics from yesterday! We want to also give the Haupt family a huge Thank you! They had flowers delivered to Gene and I a week before they arrived, which brought rolling tears to my eyes 😭! EVERY time the Haupt family comes into the lodge they have the biggest 😀 smile and always happy! And little Miss Rosie, loves Otis, she buys him a pup cup everyday! Thank you for being apart of the SahKahTay Family!

Good afternoon, SahKahTay Followers, Gene here! I'm pleased to report that the Walleye and Perch bite is getting HOT. Much needed rain is upon us, and the lake level is rising quite nicely. Even on a soggy day we have indoor entertainment, Video games, board game and a pool table. We have a group from cabin 1 and 2 in the lodge today shooting pool and enjoying each other's company. Even a rainy day is a great day here at SKTB!
Attached is a picture of the Steenbock Crew from last weekend. The picture shows 3 generations and some new additions to the gathering. You may say that those are nice perch and your correct. What is more impressive is, those 10 perch completed their possession! Way To Go!! We're looking forward to your return, keep the tradition alive! See you when you get here.

This week we had two very special “VIP” guests that came to visit us. Gene’s aunt Sally and Ardy! We had a lot of laughs and an update on what’s been happening with the family! They got to try our pizzas,( Ardy, LOVED our new Chicken Bacon Ranch) 😋 and then a nice (sometimes scary)golf cart tour of the resort, thank you Gene ❣️

Good Evening, Sah-Kah-Tay Followers, Gene here. Tina and I would like to thank the groups that made it out this weekend. We have the Wilson's, 3 generation and loving life, keep it going guys! (Picture attached) Thee Serbus family, they decided to have a Mother's Day/Fishing Opener weekend. What an awesome family and down to earth. The Young and friends, they did well with some panfish and perch, 30+ years of lake knowhow.
Then our own Dob's with his personal best open water walleye. His buddy Logan was able to catch a quality Eye. Tina and I also landed a couple of walleyes fishing in our harbor while taking picture of the Northern Lights. Way to go and thank you all for being great guest.
It was pretty good fishing this weekend, the walleyes are in post spawn and seems like most of them have moved to the big water. We have a few openings in May, so don't wait! If you book, I'll give you some spots to set the hook!
