It has been an amazing journey working with Brian! From the beginning, he shared with me his goals and what was ahead of him, back surgery. He trusted me to not do just prehab, he wanted to avoid surgery, so we worked hard, HE worked harder.

We went from simple core activation exercises, to mobility, to , to essentially a training session! He made amazing strides to get better and ultimately led to cancelling the surgery that was slated for today! This picture is today, a celebration of improving overall strength, health, stability and mobility, and avoiding back surgery! Thank you for letting me be a part of your journey! And thank you to your wife for finding me and trusting me with your pain.

We hope to share more stories like this! This is amazing! Brian is amazing! His work ethic is amazing!

Today we took our skills to (Thank you for having us) to help with post workout soreness and aid in recovery with stretching, massage guns, and some mobilizations/manipulations.

Even if you are not hurt, but you go hard, recovery sessions are a way to go to help you continue giving your best effort day in and day out! Some time on the table to help you feel better goes a long way. Don’t skip the recovery! PT is more than just for when you’re hurt, it is for everyday life!!

Performing a movement assessment for the Cherokee Trail Football Team this morning! Looking at movement patterns that are consistent across the board that will eventually lead to adaptations in summer program to address some mobility or strength issues of the team.

The goal is to move better and more efficiently to improve performance on the field!

🏉 Tearing an ACL is devastating physically and mentally, but a physical therapist can help you bounce back and reduce the risk of retear with prehabilitation and rehabilitation.

➡️ ACL Reconstruction is one of the most common surgeries in the US, with more than 200,000 cases a year. These injuries happen with a sudden pivot or cut with the foot firmly planted in the ground or when landing from jumping and the knee collapsing into a valgus position. Most commonly a non-contact injury with a higher incidence of injury in 🏈 football, ⚽️soccer, and 🏀 basketball. Prehabilitation prior to surgery can help with outcomes, and a solid individualized rehabilitation program will not only help with outcomes but confidence to get back to what you love.

Goals and Benefits of Prehabilitation Include:
➡️ Restore Knee ROM
➡️ Restore Lower Extremity Strength, Especially Quadriceps
➡️Restore Knee Stability and Balance
➡️ Restore Proprioception
➡️ Restore Confidence in Return to Sport

Below ⬇️ are some phases of ACL rehabilitation and the emphasis on each one with a relative timeline.

Phase I: Protection/ROM/Muscle Activation (0-6 weeks)
- Purpose to decrease postoperative complications, acknowledging and adhering to physiological healing timelines
Phase II: Periodized Muscular Development: Muscular Endurance (7-14 weeks)
- Begin progressive loading of the knee joint, specifically type I (endurance) muscle fibers
Phase III: Periodized Muscular Development: Muscular Strength (15-21 weeks)
- Strength targeting type II muscle fibers with heavier loads and decreased repetitions
Phase IV: Periodized Strength Development: Muscular Power/Speed/Agility (22+ weeks)
- Direction to develop muscular power, speed, and agility with goal being return to participation, then sport, then performance

Return to Sport and Performance should not be solely based on a timeline, but also objective outcomes, psychological readiness, and the demands of the sport....because one size does not fit all!
