Sharing a very helpful idea I was given years ago by a friend that was a firefighter. Now that you have all of your clocks set back for daylight savings, the next step you should do is change all of the batteries in your smoke alarms. Every year there are families that unfortunately experience fires in their homes. Whether you are saved or it turns into a far worse disaster depends on those smoke alarms we take for granted. Also, every year there are homes that have smoke alarms but the batteries dead so they can’t do their job of saving your life. Take a few minutes every year at daylight savings to change all of your batteries so you never have to worry about it. It’s easy, cheap, and doesn’t take too long, but can truly save your life!

One more tip to wrap up the week! For 60-year-olds and beyond: Take the pressure off. Regular physical activity is more crucial than ever, but if aches and pains are making walking or jogging a chore, move some of your exercise to a pool, where you can work just as hard with less pounding. (Oh, and see a physical therapist about those aches and pains!)
