Today we officially welcomed the newest members of our St. Marks family! We’re glad you’ve decided to call our community “home”!

St. Mark’s Director of Music, Josh O’Dell, is also the Director of Choral Activities at WVSU. The flyer included in this post gives all the details. Some of us older folks (Joe & Julie Janisch and Terry Davis) are also singing with the choir. St. Mark’s Steel is also playing. I’m sure Josh would be thrilled to see you on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 7:00 in the Davis Fine Arts Building Theatre on the WVSU Campus.

Additionally, Abby Stapler, who sings in the St. Mark’s Choir, will be singing with the University of Charleston Choir this Sunday, Dec 3 at 2:30. If will be held in the Rotunda on the UC Campus. I’m sure Abby would love to see you there!

Join us on Sunday morning - it's the first Sunday of Advent! Come on out for Sunday School at 9:30 am, and then stay for worship at 10:45 am, where we will be receiving seven folks into membership! We also have it on good authority that the small wooden Mary and Joseph will be traveling around the sanctuary again this year, and each Sunday, they will have a little something for the kids of the church - so make sure you look for them!

When you are next inside the church building, you will notice this huge coloring poster in the hallway across from the nursery - as a communal Advent practice, we invite you to pick up a marker and color a little bit of our poster. As we anticipate Christmas, the time where we celebrate Emmanuel, God with us, we are reminded of the gift of presence. Your presence is also a gift, and you make a difference. Let’s remind each other of this truth this Advent season! It doesn’t matter how old or how young you are – whenever you are in the building this Advent season, take a couple of minutes to pause and color!

We’re sad to hear of Bishop Grove’s passing yesterday. His name will be among those we read during our All Saints service tomorrow.
