You do not know the gestures or a word of the language. You do not know how to communicate. Every time you sense a pattern or sequential order to life, it changes. You feel frustrated and angry. That's all, y'all! What a successful 2024 camp season.

We're exhausted...see ya next year!!!

***ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS***

would like to thank:
❤️ the parents for getting their kids out to North Charleston every single day, rain or shine!
❤️ the pastors and staff at Cooper River Baptist Church for their extreme generosity every year!
❤️ the volunteers and interns: high schoolers and former campers who volunteered and interned and served as AMAZING ENTHUSIASTIC camp counselors!
❤️ the BTs and RBTs who, honestly, love these kids and put so much of themselves into their work every day!
❤️ Tonya our amazing School Readiness Educator who prepared new lessons for our campers every day!
❤️ the CCBS trainees who came up with so many new, fun, creative ideas this year!
❤️ Jennifer and Brittany. They did it *again*. Honestly after the first time, we thought they'd want to pass the torch. People probably have no idea how much goes into planning, training, staffing, coordinating...and then...there's a Tropical Storm 😂. Or...one of a million other problems. But they never let camp disappoint. Every single day is so much fun. The kids learn so much, and they socialize and play with friends in an accepting, loving environment. They manage all the staff and amazing field trips every Friday. They keep us safe and happy and we are SO GRATEFUL to have them!!!

See you next year! ❤️

This year we are looking forward to the release of Who Speaks for Charlie? In a world where misinformation is literally available at our fingertips every minute of every day, please try to get the facts and be kind. While it's true that many, many autistic people (or, people with autism, whichever you prefer), will grow up to lead successful, productive, happy lives, there are still so many individuals who need our help and understanding because they have such severe challenging behaviors. This April, pay attention to the spectrum and know that each person's experience is truly special and one-of-a-kind!
